Amendment 2
Gun Control
The Second Amendment
To me, the Second Amendment means that anyone is allowed to keep and bear arms. Amendment two states, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." This amendment was created to insure all citizens protection.
Controversy on This Amendment
There has been a lot of controversy about this particular amendment. Because of the elastic clause, Congress does not know where the line is drawn for this amendment. Some people believe that if Congress takes away their guns, they will take away everything, and won't have any freedom. This amendment does not specify how many guns each person is allowed to have; it just says "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed," but back when the Constitution was being made, they did not have powerful guns, like we have now.
Bearing Arms
People believe that bearing arms means that anyone has the right to own any type of gun, but when do we know if the limit has been drawn. The second amendment allows people to keep and bear arms. To keep and bear arms is the "enumerated right that people have a personal right to own arms for individual use, and a collective right to bear arms in a militia" -Wikipedia. I believe that people should be allowed to own guns, but not more than ten usable guns. I also believe that when they are finished using the gun they must be up high and locked up, so little children don't get their hands on it. I also believe that their should be an age restriction on owning a gun. For example, I think that once you turn eighteen, you can own a gun.
