YEARBOOK AND SCHOOL PICTURES

FALL SCHOOL PICTURES

NEW THIS YEAR: THERE ARE NO PAPER ORDER FORMS - ALL ORDERING WILL BE DONE ONLINE

BJH is using a new picture company and all ordering is completed online. There are no paper ordering forms going home this year. Families who order ahead will receive their picture packages delivered to school as usual and those who did not order packages will get an 'it's not too late' proof package. The advantage for ordering ahead is you don't have to pay shipping and the package prices are slightly discounted. Orders from the paper proof will just be mailed directly to the student's home address.

Retakes are on Thursday, September 29 during lunches. Remember these photos are used for the yearbook and IDs. The only opportunity for retakes are on September 29.

YEARBOOK ORDER INFORMATION

Welcome to a new school year and a new yearbook to celebrate all of the achievements for the new school year! Yearbooks are at the lowest price of the year until September 30, 2022 at the low, LOW price of $45. On October 1, the price of yearbooks will increase to $50. Tribute Ads for ninth graders are $50 for 1/4 of a page and $30 for 1/8 of a page. These sales will close on January 28, 2023. Once your ad space has been purchased, a link will arrive in your email from Balfour. Sometimes these links end up in your spam folder, so please look there if you have not received your link within 48 hours. The ad program allows families to edit and save their design before their final submission. Any questions, email Susannah Keneda at susannahkeneda@hebisd.edu.

ATHLETICS THIS WEEK

FRESHMAN FOOTBALL

Thursday night, the Bedford junior high 9th grade football A team took on Harwood in a hard-hitting slug match. Tough running by Caleb Walton, Landon Wesley, and Javon Amos kept your Broncos within one touchdown of taking the game. Great defensive play by your Broncos took this game down to the end. With a final score of 28-20, Bedford came up just short of their goal of defeating the Blackhawks.

The 9th grade B team also took on Harwood. Coming out of the gates hot with a 70-yard touchdown run by Blaze Williams the Broncos took an early 6-0 lead. With great defensive play, another touchdown run for Blaze Williams, and a passing touchdown from Grayson Tidwell to David Jackson your Broncos rolled past the Blackhawks with a final score of 28-6.

FRESHMAN VOLLEYBALL

The Feshman Lady Broncos competed against Denton Ryan Tuesday night at Bell and absolutely DOMINATED.

Denton Ryan could not handle the service pressure from Hannah Due, Macey Spicer, Tagan Henly, and Natalie Luna. Big-time net defense and swings by Emily Ventrca, Alina Vogt, Macey Spicer, Hannah Due, Ella Trevino, and Presley Rivers could not be stopped. Proud of the sets and play calls by Gracie Schwartz and Macey Spicer. Shoutout to our 7th and 8th-grade volleyball teams for coming out to support their "grandmas" in their victory. The girls look to get a road win at Carrolton Creekview this Friday!

This past weekend was full of volleyball for our Freshman Lady Broncos, also. They started off with a match against Birdville High School Friday night. The girls dropped the first set, and fought their way back in the second set and was victorious giving us a shot in the 3rd set. Unfortunately, the Hawks reached 25 first. The girls came back with a vengeance this weekend in their away tournament in Decatur. They lead their way to the championship game beating Boyd, Graham and Decatur. The girls had to fight against a good Weatherford team in the championship. After a tough first set and a hard fought second set, the girls ended up placing 2nd! Way to go Lady Broncos!

Big picture

8TH GRADE VOLLEYBALL

The Lady Broncos 8th grade volleyball teams opened their season yesterday against Colleyville Heritage. Team 2 played hard but did not get the result. Service pressure was provided by Isabella Darce, Lana Davis and Serenity WIlliams. The defense was led by Tia Lafeta and Truly Taylor-Maroney.

8th grade team 1 started off their season with a bang defeating Colleyville Heritage in two straight sets. The first set was an exciting back and forth match winning 29-27. The second set the broncos put on the service pressure down the stretch and won 25-18. Setting assists were led by Natalie Roach and Sara Thapa-Magar. Talia Soliai-Tui led the spiking attack with 8 kills in the match, Reagan Ingram and MuRae Horn each contributed 2 spike kills. The defense and net pressure was led by Kenslee Turner and Olivia Delgado. Finally the service pressure was led Hailee Blocker-Smith, Talia Soliai-Tui, Reagan Ingram, Natalie Roach and Sara Thapa-Magar.

Good start to the season, thanks to all that came out to support!

7TH GRADE VOLLEYBALL

The 7th grade volleyball team had their first game Wednesday night at Heritage.

Team 2 came out with strong service pressure by Eva Moore & Genesis Morales to start off the match, but Heritage's consistency defensively was too much for the Broncos and they dropped the first game, 25 - 18. In the second set our girls showed resilience, coming out swinging and staying aggressive on the net, but Heritage overpowered us and we dropped set 2, 25 - 13. Brooke McClain, Alexis Tabor, and Brooklyn Carlson stood out in set 2 for being aggressive and a presence on the court.

Team 1 came out firing on all cylinders, getting on top of Heritage quickly 10 - 4 by tough serves from Brooklyn Morgan and Valentina Betancourt. Heritage climbed back into the game and we went point for point with them for the next 12 points, with some aggressive attacks by Bentacourt, Sariyah Crater, Sydney Pietzsch (Peach) and Reagan Bennett from the front row, and London Morgan from the back row. Heritage got to 25 first and we dropped game 1, 25 - 20.

Set 2 was as close of a game as set 1, with both teams battling with big swings back and forth, but we stayed in it with great backrow defense from Jill Smith, Bentacourt, and the Morgan sisters. In the end we dropped game 25 - 21.

Your Broncos look to come back big on Monday as they take on Cross Timbers here at home at 5pm. Let's pack the stands!

Big picture

7TH GRADE FOOTBALL

Wednesday night the 7th-grade football teams played against Heritage Middle School.

B team started the night dominating the Heritage Broncos. There were multiple scores by our Broncos led by Myles Still, Will Roach, and Mujee Sakki. The final score was 18-0. Shoutout to the offensive line for playing a great game!

The A team played a tough Heritage team last night. Although showing effort and the will to fight to the end, they fell short. The players of the game were Oliver Dearmond, DJ Noriega, Elijah Campos, and Cohen Turner. Good luck to both teams next week against Cross Timbers here at BJH.

Big picture

8TH GRADE FOOTBALL

The 8th Grade boys played Heritage Middle School Tuesday night.

The A team lost their game after committing 5 turnovers. Braylon Harris and Caleb Perry scored Touchdowns for the Broncos with Channing Humphrey and Tyler Cramer leading the defense in Tackles.

The B team lost 18-6. Usiris Moreno scored the lone Touchdown for us, after a drive with solid efforts from Luke Pryor and Kie'Von Fields. Marco TIjerina and Trace White were all over the field on defense, with double digit tackles between them.

The boys look for their first win next week against Cross Timbers MS.

BEDFORD JUNIOR HIGH PTA

PTA VOLUNTEER REQUEST

I want to personally welcome you and your family to Bedford Junior High and into our school community. Parents are vital partners and we rely heavily on hands-on assistance from parent volunteers. As a volunteer on our school campus, you show our students that school is important. You also serve as an extra set of eyes and ears to help our students, reduce bullying and provide a greater sense of campus safety and security. This allows our students and teachers to focus on learning and instruction. There will be more volunteer opportunities on the campus this year and I encourage you to take an hour or two to help out.

Michael Martinak

My name is Betsy Deck and I am the Volunteer Coordinator for the BJH PTA. The PTA is an association of parents and teachers working together to improve the lives of our children in education, health and safety. I’m glad we have the opportunity to be back inside the schools this year to do just that. Many hands make light work and anything we can do to pitch in will help. Plus, it really gives you insight into the teenage mind. <Cue mysterious music.>

Some volunteer opportunities this year include working a shift in the concession stand, dance chaperones, assist staff in the lunchroom, special teacher projects, crossing guards and making copies in the workroom. Training will be provided, and you can even sign up with a friend for some shifts. Volunteers can be parents or grandparents of children in the school. You may choose how long, how often and where you wish to help. Please use the link below to take a look at some of the opportunities and sign up today.
