Mann Behavior Expectations
CLICK ON THE IMAGE (to the right) TO ACCESS OUR BEHAVIOR MATRIX
This document outlines our behavior expectations for every area of the building.
Teachers will continue to reteach and practice these expectations throughout the school year with their students.
Feel free to review these expectations with your child at home to help reinforce positive choices while at school.
A Note from Principal Payne . . .
We are still rolling right along successfully through first quarter. Proud of the growth mindset and ability to adjust to change for all stakeholders - students, staff and families - and appreciate the grace as things finally seem to be settling into more of a routine.
There are lots of important events coming up this month, including Open House, Parent/Teacher Conferences and a school-wide fundraiser. More information regarding Open House and Parent/Teacher Conferences is included below. The fundraiser is kicking off next week and will be an exciting one for sure. Look for more information to come home with your student(s) either Monday, October 5th or Thursday, October 8th, with a task and quick turn around for your student(s) to earn some awesome prizes.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation in the carline each morning and afternoon. Patience is key in keeping our students and staff safe. One additional favor to ask: Please do not drop students off outside the gym doors prior to 8:30AM each day. Wait or the bell to ring and for staff to open the gym doors before allowing your student(s) to unload the car. The congregation occuring outside these doors at this time is not safe and putting our students and staff at risk. Appreciate your patience with this.
Red Tickets and PRIDE Focus Word
P.R.I.D.E. is our positive behavior support system here at Mann. P.R.I.D.E. at Mann stands for Positive*Respectful*Integrity*Dependable*Effort. During the month of October, we will be focusing on the word POSITIVE. Teachers talk about these words often with their stduents. This month they will be focused on the word Positve and looking for students who exhibit this character trait to award Red Tickets to.

Dressing Appropriately for the Season
Now that fall has officially arrived, it's time to start thinking about warmer clothes for the cooler season. It's important to watch the weather before sending your child to school each day so that you know what type of clothing they will need. During fall, pants, jackets, and/or sweatshirts are encouraged, however with winter right around the corner winter coats, gloves, and hats will be needed. If your child is in need of a winter coat or some warmer winter clothing, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I'm happy to help you and your child find the right winter essentials to stay warm and cozy this season!

417-523-4430A Note from Ms. Johnson in the Library . . .
When we transitioned to SPS At Home this spring there were many books that students were unable to return to their school library. Now that we are back in the classroom many months have gone by since the students have checked out the books. We understand that some students may not remember which books they had checked out before last spring. This video will guide you through the process of checking your student’s library account to see which books that still have checked out. It is our goal to get back as many library books as possible so that they can continue to be enjoyed by students at Mann Elementary but we do understand that a lot has happened between last spring and the start of this school year. If you are unable to find one of your student’s library books please feel free to contact me and I would be happy to work something out with you.

Also, just a reminder that there are no virtual library lessons to complete on your students' virtual or seated days. Students typically have library once each week and are still doing so on their seated days in this new capacity. Therefore, it is not needed to check the Canvas Library Page on their at-home days.

A Note from PTA . . .
The 2020-2021 Student Directory listing each student's name, address, and phone number are now ready for purchase. They can be purchased on our square site at https://horacemannpta.square.site for $5 each, and will be sent home with your student.
Mann Spirit Wear
The Mann Spirit Store is now open! We will start processing all orders once the purchase deadline has passed. Our goal is for all orders to be completed within 3-4 weeks from the store closing date (in the unfortunate event of a backorder, completion date of an order could be pushed back). All sales are final.
Mann Masks are also still available for purchase through our square site and will be sent home with your student the week of or week after your purchase date.
Please email Mann PTA with any questions or concerns in regards to spirit wear and masks. Thank you! teammannpta@gmail.com

Mann PTA Memberships . . .
This year might look a little different, but Mann PTA is still here! It is our desire as a PTA to help create a positive environment and relationship between Mann teachers, students, and families. Joining the PTA is a great way to become an active part of your child’s academic journey and to stay in-the-know on what’s happening at school. It is also a great way to connect with the principal, teachers, parents, and students.
In a typical year we host several family-friendly events and hold fundraisers throughout the year to help raise money for needed supplies and resources for the school. We are limited on what we can do this year, but we still need members to help make PTA possible. It is easy to get involved! Turn in the PTA membership form along with the $5 membership dues, or sign up online at horacemannpta.square.site.
We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting on Thursday, October 8th, at 6PM, in the Mann APR. Follow our Facebook page at HoraceMannElementaryPTA or visit our website at //teammannpta.wixsite.com/horacemann to stay updated on what we have going on.
