Creative Writing Contest for Fifth Graders

The American Immigration Council is proud to sponsor the 19th annual Celebrate America Fifth Grade Creative Writing Contest. The contest gives fifth graders the opportunity to explore what it means that America is a nation of immigrants.

Who, What, When and How

Who: 5th grade students who reside in Maryland, DC and Virginia

What: 500 words on the theme "Why I am glad America is a nation of immigrants"

Deadline: February 29, 2016

Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three essay submissions.

Additional prizes to be announced in the future may be awarded.

Winners will be honored at a special dinner meeting of the DC chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

First Place winner's essay will go on to compete in the national contest against all other local contest first place winners. The National Contest grand prize is a fully paid trip to Las Vegas for the winner and two guests.
