Weekly Update

Term II 2013

Welcome back...

I hope everyone managed to have a restful break after a pretty full-on first term. While term II will undoubtably be just as hectic hopefully the routines and procedures will start to fall into place which will take some of the pressure off. Having said that we have four cluster sports days and a cross-country carnival as well as ANZAC Day and Queen's Birthday public holidays that will impact on classes and assessment. Please take these into account with your planning. We will endeavour to win back a Tuesday (we lose four through sport) by running a Tuesday timetable on another day of the week sometime mid-term.

Term II Priorities

In no particular order...

1) School for One data placemats - all classes, all teachers. Please have these complete by the end of week 2. 2) Implementation of the Personal Learning Profile - students to complete by the end of week 2 in Maths, English and Science. 3) PSSC Reading Strategy - SCORE 4) Continue to implement ASOT in classrooms led by our Quality Teaching Team - more about this at our next staff meeting. 5) Development of 5 week data cycles to monitor student achievement in Reading, Spelling and Numeracy. 6) Performance Development Plans for all staff by end of Term II.

New Staff Member

We welcome Larry Broda to our team from the start of Term II. Larry will join us for Term II while Rhys Emmerson remains on sick leave. Larry is a science teacher at Helensvale State High School, although he has been working overseas for the past few years, in the Middle East and most recently Kazakhstan. Larry will have a range of roles including classes, assisting science classes in lab work and facilitating science enrichment experiences for our feeder primary schools.

Enjoy the remaining few days of your break. See you Monday...
