BETTER TOGETHER...WE ARE THE STAMPEDE
December 2022
Message from Mrs. Jordan
Thank you for taking the time to complete our Fall Family survey. We truly appreciate the insightful input you provided. Based on your feedback, we would like to share with you a new resource and an update on new Morning Clubs for students!
One of the areas families expressed interest in knowing more about are the rules and procedures at Silver Ranch. Our team has created a Hub that has a collection of our daily school-wide procedures. This showcases our lesson plans we use to teach, videos of students showing the procedures, and our posters throughout the school. Please click here to view the Silver Ranch School-wide Hub! We hope you find this a valuable tool for you and your child!
This week was the beginning of our Morning Clubs when students arrive at school. Students have the choice of going outside for recess, joining walking club in the gym, participating in an art/coloring center, or playing a board game in the cafeteria. Students are loving the different options! Please see the pictures below of the clubs in action!
Open Your Heart Campaign 11/30 - 12/15
Silver Ranch PAC/PTO Meeting 12/6/22
Please join us at our next Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) or PTO on Tuesday, December 6th at 6:00 pm in the library.
.
The agenda will include planning upcoming events for our students and families. We would love to hear your ideas. Based on several survey results and comments, it is important for families to have school-wide events. In order to plan and prepare for these events, we need your support!
There will be free child care and snacks provided during the meeting!
We want to remind you every Silver Ranch Elementary parent/guardian, staff member, and teacher is automatically a member of the PAC. We encourage everyone to attend meetings and become involved so we can plan some fun Silver Ranch events!
Message from Nurse Lein
Head Lice is a Nuisance, But not Harmful.
What is a louse’s favorite nursery rhyme? Three Blind Lice
Finding out your child or child’s friend has head lice is far from humorous for most of us, but don’t panic. Research is finding that head lice is not as contagious as we thought. Children are 96% more likely to get head lice outside of school. This is because head lice are transmitted through prolonged, close head-to-head contact. Lice can’t jump or fly. They like to stay where it is dark and warm, close to the scalp. They won’t leave this area unless they are going to another warm scalp that is within walking distance. Transmission is more likely to occur between family members, overnight guests, and playmates that spend a lot of time together. Because there is such a low risk of transmission at school, routine classroom or school wide screening is not recommended and the school does not send letters home to parents. Current guidelines recommend that you screen your child periodically. For more information about head lice, contact your school nurse, Bismarck Burleigh Public Health at 355-1540, or visit www.ndhealth.gov.
Dress for the weather
It is important for our students to be dressed for the weather. Remember that students will go outside for recess as long as the temperature/wind chill is above -15°F. Please be sure your child wears the appropriate clothing to school each day. Weather Policies
