From the Desk of Dr. Ricks
Parents and Friends,
We have a lot going on as we make our way through October. Thursday, report cards will come home. I know that you have conferenced, or will soon conference, with your child's teachers. Please put grades in context and know when a "B" calls for great praise and when it calls for reassessing priorities. Our focus at GES is to foster the child's love, mastery, and respect for learning; the letter grade is only one measure of how well we are meeting that objective. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the efforts and accomplishments of our students.
Evergreen sales are going strong. We have several more days to get our orders in. And (please) in the words of Randolph and Mortimer Duke...sell, sell, sell! This is the major PTF fundraiser, and all money generated through Evergreen sales is put towards improving school life for our students...like our awesome new Lower School Playground! The past 2 years of Evergreen sales helped to make this new play space a reality. We are looking to expand the Playspaces for both Early Childhood and Middle School as well as enhance the STEM programs for all grades. Strong Evergreen sales will help make this happen!
It is hard to believe that we have wrapped up our 1st 9 weeks. Thank you so much for a really wonderful beginning to the school year.
Warmly,
Dr. Ricks

Wherever you are on your faith journey….Grace welcomes you!
Revealing the Revelation
Starting on October 15th, Fr. Michael will begin a new Sunday morning bible study class. In this class, “Revealing the Revelation”, we will take an in-depth look at what the last book of the Bible is all about. The book of Revelation is one of the best known and most misunderstood books that makes up our New Testament. Come join us between the services as we learn about Revelation. Fr. Michael will be using a study by Bishop N.T. Wright as a guide, but no material other than your favorite Bible will be necessary for this class.
Ladies Fall Celebration/Hurricane Relief Service Project
The women of Grace will hold our quarterly ladies’ convocation celebration and incorporate helping our friends and neighbors who have been affected by the recent storms. We will be taking up a collection to send to Episcopal Relief and Development’s hurricane relief fund. Join us Saturday, October 21st, 11:00am- 1:00pm for chili, soups, salads, cornbread, as well as yummy desserts. There will also be gluten free options. See you then!
