Coming Up for Manville Schools
Strategic Planning Initiative
The Board of Education invites you to participate in their Strategic Planning Initiative, Preparing today’s students for tomorrow’s world! They will be creating a shared vision for the district, discussing the strengths of the district, the challenges that they face, and ways in which they can tackle those challenges. All are invited to contribute their thoughts, ideas, and hopes so that they can effectively plan for the future of our students.
Strategic Planning meetings will take place on February 8, February 22, and March 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria, where dinner will be provided. Registration is required and participation in any of the meetings is greatly appreciated.

Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad
On February 4 at 2 p.m., the Manville Public Library and American Historical Theater present a live recreation of Harriet Tubman and her journey through the Underground Railroad. Register at https://sclsnj.libnet.info/event/7542922
Free Cardiac Athletic Screening
Robert Wood Johnson Somerset is offering free cardiac screening to athletes ages 14 to 18 on February 4 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Visit rwjbh.org/cardiacathleticscreening for more details.
Bilingual Programs in NJ & Parent Rights
New Jersey's Department of Education is hosting a webinar on February 7 for parents of English language learners and the district staff that support them. The session will highlight the value of the home language, the benefits of being in a language program, district strategies for creating language programs and resources available to parents. Love Shouldn't Hurt
On February 9 at 6 p.m., EmPoWER Somerset will host a virtual event for middle and high school youth and their parents on the topic of teen dating violence prevention. The event will feature speakers from Safe + Sound Somerset and giveaways including AirPods. See the flyer for more information or register for the event here.
Middle Earth Outback Fundraiser
Middle Earth is hosting a fundraiser at Outback Steakhouse in Green Brook on February 14 and 28. Dine in or take out and show this flyer and 18% of your check will support Middle Earth.
RACE to be Human Documentary
Recreation Spring Sports Registration
Registration for Manville Recreation’s spring sports is now open. Programs include
- Instructional soccer for ages 4 to 6
- 1st and 2nd grade soccer development training
- In-town/travel soccer for grades 3 through 8
- Softball for grades 1 through 8
- T-Ball for boys and girls ages 4 to 6
- Baseball for ages 7 to 12
The Manville Food Pantry will be open the second Saturday of each month at the Faith in Action Church at 228 S. Main Street. Please make sure to bring your ID and a bag.
Feeding Hands is also offering assistance the fourth Saturday of each month at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 34 South Third Avenue. See the flyer for dates and more details.
Somerset County COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics
The Somerset County Department of Health has opened additional COVID-19 clinics. Visit their website for a full list of dates, times and other details.
