Message from the Principal
Hello parents,
Even though it was shortened, this week was full of activities. We hosted our annual "Sitting at the Feet of the Elders" event honoring Black History Month. Community members, former educators, a pastor, teachers and alumni came to our library to share their wisdom gleaned over the course of a lifetime of experiences living in Woodbury. Students came down in their history classes to hear our guests. The event was live-streamed and can be seen at this link.
This morning saw hundreds of people participate in our BUGs Breakfast (Bringing Up Grades). This is an event that occurs annually once the second marking period ends. Students who have significantly raised their GPA from the first to second marking period, those who made honor roll, and those who made the principal's list and their parents were all invited to attend. An assembly honoring their accomplishments occurred in the auditorium followed by a light breakfast in the cafeteria. Congratulations to all of our award winners and their families! Check out their pictures below.
Next week, our high school counselors will go into 8th grade classrooms to discuss course selections for high school. The counselors will explain the options that are available and answer any questions students may have. Parents, you can access the course selection document after Tuesday in your child's school Naviance account found here. It is important to make informed choices throughout this process so if anyone has any questions, do not hesitate to contact Ms. Lopez (Last names A-L, ext. 287) or Mr. Jarrett (Last names M-Z, ext. 256).
On Tuesday of next week, both our Girls and Boys Basketball teams will be competing in the first round of the playoffs. The girls are away at Glassboro. The boys will host arch rival Paulsboro in the Cap Paine Gym. Tip off for both games is 4 pm; tickets will be sold at the door. We hope you are able to come out and support our teams!
Lastly, we have a PTSA meeting scheduled for 6 pm on Monday. See you then!
PS: Ms. Cook and Ms. McLister were chosen as Employees of the Month...congrats!
Enjoy the weekend!
Keep Love Present,
Dr. Vivadelli

Woodbury's Students Celebrate the Chinese New Year
Students in Mr. DiMarco's Chinese classes moved about the building in costumes beating drums and dancing recently. They were celebrating the Chinese New Year in a full dragon outfit with masks! Visiting classrooms throughout the campus, they brought some lighthearted cheer to the day.
Seal of Biliteracy
Three of our high school students recently received news that they passed the test to be officially deemed 'bi-literate'. Caitlin McGeehan, Gerald Gutierrez Marquez, and Amy Perez-Gonzalez will have a seal issued by the NJDOE placed on their diplomas certifying their proficiency in two languages. They are pictured here with teacher Mrs. Smith. Congratulations to each of them!

Project Graduation
Project Graduation is a safe and free night of fun for our graduates. It has been a part of Woodbury High School for many years. For the last six years Project Graduation has been held at Rastelli’s Sports & More in Deptford, NJ.
The night of graduation, our graduates return to the high school approximately 9pm. The students and parent volunteer chaperones are bused to the venue. For the next 3-4 hours the graduates enjoy many activities such as a photo booth, basketball, swimming, Gaga Ball, volley ball, Tether ball and a live DJ. Food is provided for all graduates at the venue. In years past, we raised enough funds to give participating graduates a small gift of a Wawa gift card and a Project Graduation t-shirt. At approximately 1:30 am. the students and volunteers are bussed back to the high school.
All costs, including transportation to and from the venue, are covered through fundraising efforts and donations.
The 2018-2019 Project Graduation Committee consists of only 9 parent volunteers. Fundraising has been particularly challenging this year. Our efforts have not raised as much money as we have hoped for at this point. Having so few volunteers makes it difficult to raise the needed funds.
We need your help! It doesn’t matter if your child is in elementary school, 6th, 7th, 8th grade or in the high school. Please join us at our next meeting. If we don’t get more volunteers, we fear there will be no Project Graduation for our graduates this year.
Our next meeting is Tuesday, February 26th. We will meet at 6:30 pm at the Woodbury Public Library in the 2nd floor conference room.
