Southside Walkathon
During today's walkathon kick-off, the children learned that they are raising funds to replace our playground equipment. If we raise the $35,000 required, the playground will be replaced this school year so all current students will benefit.
CLASSROOM NOTES
This week we learned Jj and Kk. We have now introduced the following letters - c, o, a, d, g, m, l, h,t, i, j and k. Please continue working on letter recognition with your child.
In math, we have been learning about teen numbers being 10 + some more. We learned a song to help us remember what the teen numbers look like (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W5aYi3lkho&list=PLs-QiX142fh7xl8pMn413ujb__PN-jwIv&index=5)
This week's sight word was a which gave us much needed practice on how to write a again. We also learned red, our first color word. The children are very good at singing the red song - ask your student if they can teach it to you.
We will introduce a color a week until we have learned the 11 color words for Kindergarten.
This week's focus standards and assessments were on comparing numbers and retelling. When reading with your child, have them retell the story (beginning, middle, and end) in their own words. Sometimes, we can repeat large parts of a story but retelling without all the details can be hard for us.
Next Week
