All School Reads
A person’s name is to that person, the sweetest
and most important sound in any language.
Dale Carnegie
Our next All School Read, The Name Jar, by Yangsook Choi, will help us reinforce this concept, and hopefully strengthen belonging and connections with each other and the wider world. After reading this book in class, students will record themselves saying their own name. This recording we will be added to a set of slides that includes each student's new school picture. These slides will then be easily accessible via a QR code, so that we can all learn how to pronounce each other's names as they are intended.
As we know, a true sense of belonging happens when one feels seen, heard and valued.
We again encourage you to read the All School Books as a family and dialogue about the big ideas, then promptly return it, so it can go home with another student. Be on the look out for The Name Jar.
We thank you for all you are doing to support your student, and Lakewood’s Vision of a Graduate.
Community Service
Help us “Fill the Shopping Cart” as we begin our new community service project for the month of November!
This November we will hold a food drive for the Lakewood Community Services Center.
The Lakewood Community Services Center provides home food deliveries to over 1,000 households in need, twice a month, in Lakewood, Rocky River, and Westlake. Deliveries include fresh produce, eggs, cheese, protein, and canned and boxed items.
How can you help? Bring in canned and/or boxed food to add to these food deliveries.
Let's fill the cart, Lincoln!

Leadership Skills at Lincoln
A number of years ago, Lincoln rolled out a study of the seven Leader in Me habits with staff and students to help strengthen elements of a whole person. These habits are one set of leadership habits that contribute to academic growth and a strong community. The Vision of a Lakewood Graduate outlines another set of leadership skills, many of which encompass the Leader In Me habits.
Check out this video to see our updated plan for strengthening leadership skills at Lincoln.

Community Challenge
Special thanks to Mr. Rustad and Mrs. Sefchick for playing in the Community Challenge basketball game on October 22nd, and to all who came out to cheer us on! The event was a huge success, raising over $5000.00 to offset the cost of prom for this year's LHS seniors.
