Pre-kindergarten
The FCPS pre-kindergarten program is a state-funded program for 4-year-old children who meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Child must be 4 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year
- Child must reside in Frederick County
Children whose families qualify under the Free and Reduced-Price Meals income guidelines and children who are homeless or in foster care receive automatic placement into the pre-kindergarten program. Enrollment is still required; please use the links here for English or here for Spanish.
Otherwise, applying for an FCPS public pre-kindergarten program, regardless of the time of year, DOES NOT automatically guarantee enrollment. Every attempt is made to provide space for as many children as possible, but because of funding restrictions, spaces are limited. In order for an application to be considered, all appropriate information must be completed and accompanied by ALL required documentation. Incomplete applications will not be processed and may affect a child's placement.
For more information about eligibility and applications for prekindergarten, please visit https://www.fcps.org/academics/prekindergarten.
Families that speak a language other than English or who have children that speak a language other than English:
Please call the FCPS International Office at 240-236-8761 (or for Spanish 240-236-8762) to be directed to the appropriate person for registration.

Parent Preferences Survey <> 2021 - 2022 SY
English: FCPS is planning for all students to return to school in-person five days per week in the next school year, 2021-2022. An all-virtual option will be offered as well. All planning will be in accordance with recommended health and safety guidelines per the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as well as state and local health departments. We need to hear from you about your preference for your child's learning model in the next school year. By filling out the survey, you are not committing your child to a particular learning model at this time. This information is critical for planning purposes only.
Please complete the survey for each child you have enrolled in an FCPS school: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ParentPref2122
The survey closes on April 16.

RESHARING IMPORTANT INFORMATION
How Positive COVID-19 Cases are Communicated
Important Definitions
Confirmed Case of COVID-19 - Cases of COVID-19 that are lab confirmed positive results of a PCR test.
Probable Case of COVID-19 - COVID-19-like symptomatic individual who has had close contact with another individual with a laboratory confirmed positive result within the past 14 days.
Close Contact - Close and prolonged contact within 6 feet of a cumulative 15 minutes in a 24 hour period.
Confirmed or probable cases of COVID-19 in the school prompt a case investigation to determine if anyone has been in close contact with the confirmed or probable case of COVID-19. A joint effort between FCPS administrators and the Frederick County Health Department identifies all close contacts. All close contacts are contacted individually and advised to quarantine at home, monitor their health, and to contact their healthcare provider for any health concerns.
The health and safety of our community is our highest priority. Brunswick Elementary follows all COVID-19 related health and safety guidelines, including requiring face coverings for staff and students, encouraging frequent hand washing, maintaining social distance, and following all cleaning and disinfection protocols.
The FCPS Health Metrics Dashboard reports the number of positive COVID-19 cases for staff and students that are in-person attendance at all FCPS schools. The cases are reported two different ways: (1) total number for all of FCPS; and (2) by each school. The dashboard is updated every Monday morning to report the number of cases from the previous week.
