Lions Park Paw Prints
Letter from the Principal
Dear Lions Park Families,
We had a wonderful last full week of school at Lions Park! We are thankful to Mr.Shaffer, Mrs. Morrison, our school staff, and our parent volunteers for enabling us to have an outstanding Field Day.
Thank you for a wonderful year of partnership in support of your children. We wish you and your families a safe, fun, and relaxing summer. Whether you travel or stay local, we hope your children find time to enjoy family and friends and pursue talents and hobbies. In addition to doing these things, it is important for students to maintain the skills they have worked so hard to learn this year. The best ways to do this are simple, such as enjoying books independently and as a family or by keeping a journal of fun things that are done. We encourage you to participate in the Mount Prospect Public Library Summer Reading Challenge to access high quality books to keep students reading throughout the summer. I also saw this website and thought it had some fun ideas.
Some families may want more structured learning activities for their child. The Fairview staff came up with the chart below that I thought I would share for those who are interested. Students can use Reflex Math (can be accessed in ClassLink through 7/31), XtraMath (you can create a free account) or flash cards to support their math fact practice. School IXL, Newsela, RAZ and BrainPop accounts (all accessible through ClassLink if a student signs into their school account) are also available this summer for use through July 31st.
Our occupational therapist, Mrs. Laurie Feinstein, is retiring at the end of this year. Mrs. Feinstein has been in District 57 for 12 years. We thank her for her serivce and wish her well in her retirement.
Our generous PTO is providing a treat to all Lions Park staff and students on the afternoon of May 31st. In order to participate, each student has to have the form at this link completed. Students who do not yet have the form completed will not be able to participate.
We are so fortunate to have such a supportive PTO. They provide memorable activities for our students, plan special events for our families, raise funds for our school and show appreciation to our staff. Many people contribute to their efforts, and they are lead by a strong group of parents. Thanks to our 2021-2022 PTO Board.

We will be collecting Chromebooks, chargers, and cases on Tuesday. Please make sure to send your child to school with these items, so that we don't have to bother you to come to bring it to school on Tuesday.
We wish our fifth graders success and happiness in middle school. For those that are moving, we hope the new schools are wonderful environments for your child. We look forward to seeing the rest of our students on Thursday, August 18th.
Warmly,
Katie Kelly
