Kindergarten Class News
December 10-14, 2018
When someone asked them where Rudolph was, they said, "He has the night off." Haha!
Language Arts
The sound we focused on this week was /d/ and our high frequency word was do. As always, the kiddos worked on a variety of skills this week such as blending CVC words, identifying sight words, rhyming, segmenting sounds of the word and then writing the word down, and identifying the medial and final sounds in a word with the help of Elkonin boxes. Every one of them works so hard and improves so much very single day. They are amazing!
Math
Our math focus for the next couple of weeks will be numbers 11-31! The Kindergartners continue to improve upon their number writing and identifying skills. They also used ten frames and stones to practice identifying sets of objects using the phrases greater than, less than, and equal to.
Social Studies/Science
This week's discussions have been on combined Social Studies/Science topics such as maps, landforms, bodies of water, cardinal directions, Earth's resources, and what Earth's surface is made of (soil, water, sand, and rock).
Upcoming Dates & Reminders
- Ugly Sweater Day on Friday, 12/21!
- Christmas Break December 24-January 1. School resumes on Wednesday, 1/2/19.
