Teacher Talk
Our week ending on the 9th was so busy! All prototypes have been through the Critical Friends Protocol. Everyone was so invested in making sure to give earnest feedback so businesses would thrive. It was good to see and hear.
At this point, everyone can begin working on making their products! We'll be making timelines to help everyone stay on track. I have a timeline for parents to help keep you sane as well! It's also on our website in the newsletter section.
Valentine's Parties are the 14th. Check out below for details.
**If your child brings a lunch from home, please include a napkin, cutlery, and a drink. The cafeteria monitors cannot keep up with all of the students getting up for these things.
Valentine's Party Needs
We need 2-3 more if possible!
APEX Fun Run Hall Decorating
As you have probably heard, our school is gearing up for our spring fundraiser. This year it’s being run through APEX and will involve students getting pledges from family members and friends for laps they run around the track on March 1. This fundraiser is school wide and not run through our PTA. (It’s completely different from the “Stuff the Boots” that took place at the beginning of the year.) More information will come home with your child as we near the February 21st “kick-off” date.
We are in need of your help! Each wing of our school has been asked to decorate to help promote this fundraiser. We are asking any parents who are able to help decorate our wing this Tuesday, February 13th to come to school at 12:30 and meet in Mrs. Satterwhite’s classroom. All the supplies and materials will be provided, but we need your help in making our decorating vision come to life!
If you are able to come up to help please let your child’s teacher know. The more people we have, the better.
Thank you so much for the help and support,
The Teachers of Wing A-100s

Concepts We'll Study:
Our Driving Question: How can we, as entrepreneurs, create a business that benefits our community?
This week the entrepreneurs will work on advertising. We'll look at examples of what makes a good ad. We'll begin thinking about what would make our businesses stand out. We'll work on advertising skills and video ourselves to see what we look and sound like.
We will also study contractions, proper nouns, expository writing techniques and will analyze the Reading STAAR Ready.
Science:
It's all about relationships with that big star of gas the Sun! We'll be looking at the relationships of the Sun, Earth, and moon, including orbits and positions. We will also work to identify the planets in Earth's solar system and their position in relation to the Sun.
Math:
We continue our trek through the relationship between multiplication and division. Students are working problems based on their needs in math. I have a few students left to work with on analyzing their STAAR release test. A folder will come home the week of Valentine's with the test, scantron, analysis sheet, and my notes. There will be a lot of information for you to see.
