PRINCIPAL POINTS.... BY ANDREW HAAKE
As some of you may know, BMS recently partnered with the YMCA and acquired their old weight room equipment. This partnership was mutually beneficial to both of us in that they needed to get rid of the equipment for their renovation and we didn't have enough equipment to efficiently work out a P.E. class of 50 students.
As an added benefit, Mrs. Kobza will begin opening the weight room in the mornings for athletes or those not currently in P.E. that want to work out during 4th Quarter. This summer, we will host summer workouts for our 7th and 8th graders right here at BMS. Mrs. Kobza will be sending home information on the coming weeks with details.
We're thankful for the local community partnership to provide our students with a needed opportunity!

CREATE A WRITTEN DISCIPLINE PLAN TO CURB ARGUMENTS
A written discipline plan can help you improve behavior and limit misunderstands. It reminds your child of your expectations and the consequences of not following the rules. The plan also eliminates the need to argue because you can point to it to remind your child exactly what you both agreed to.
To create an effective plan:
- Keep it simple. Too many rules will overwhelm both of you. Think of the top five issues that are most important to you. Post the rules and consequences for those.
- Involve your child. A child who needs a written discipline plan is also a child who does not like to give up control. Ask for input about rules and consequences--but remember that you have the final say.
- Monitor progress. When you notice that your child is able to stay consistently within boundaries, it's time to review and possibly revise the plan.

ATTENTION PARENTS OF 6TH GRADERS....LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT YEAR:
All current 6th grade children will need a physical by a doctor, BEFORE entering 7th grade next fall. We will need these on file no later than the first day of school. If we do not have a physical on file for your child after the first full day of school, your child could be excluded from school until this is completed. We let you know this information months in advance so that you have the entire summer to get these physicals done. **Children going into 6th grade in the fall are not required to get a physical**
7TH AND 8TH GRADERS GOING OUT FOR A SPORT
If your child would like to participate in a sport, a sports physical must be on file dated after May 1, 2022. This will also count towards their 7th grade physical and all sports they participate in for the year.
VACCINE REMINDER
All students enrolling in 7th grade next year must provide evidence of having 1 booster of Tdap vaccine given on or after 10 years of age. If you have a 6th grade student this year, they will be required to show proof of the Tdap vaccination before they will be able to enter 7th grade. Once vaccinations are received, please send a copy to the school nurse so it is on file and your child is up to date before the start of school next fall.
