We will sing at Godwin Heights High School’s auditorium on the big stage! We are so excited to show you what we have been learning. More information is coming soon!
Mrs. Johns
After spending the first marking period on locomotor movements, we are now working on catching and throwing skills along with activities that focus on balancing as we go through November and into December. Kindergarten and first graders are focusing on proper form for underhand throws and the second graders are reviewing underhand throwing and learning proper form for an overhand throw. We discussed in our classes many games and different sports that involve some sort of catching and throwing, and we all agreed that it is important to learn these skills now to get better at sports that use them as we get older. Ask your child to show you how their hands should be to catch a ball above their waist and below their waist.
Ms. Matelski
This month in the library we are discussing different story elements such as characters, settings, plots, the beginning, middle and ending of a story. When reading at home pause during a story and ask your student to share who the characters are, and where the setting is. At the end of the story, discuss together what happened in the beginning, middle and end. We'll also be discussing fiction vs. non-fiction text at the end of the month! If your child brings home a library book be sure they return it so they can keep checking out new books!
Brrrrrrr.... it's cold outside!!
It's that time of year again! As we head into winter and cold days ahead, please be sure to dress your child appropriately for the weather! Students go outside daily if the temperature is above 16 degrees and the wind chill is above zero.
