Virtue of the Month for Students: Empathy

Virtue of the Month for Adults: Prudence

Social Skills of the Week: Following Instructions & Staying on Task

A Message From Our Principal

Dear Parents,

What a busy time of the year! So many celebrations and changes to schedules both at home and in the classrooms.

A reminder concerning class parties during this holiday season ...please communicate with your child's teacher and your room parent regarding any treats you plan on sending for the class. We would like to avoid an overload of sugar for our students. Additionally, please refrain from serving soda to students. Water and fruit juice are great choices.

I would like to review some of our Extended Care procedures that may have been eased up on a bit over the past year.

>Students are checked in at 3:00PM on Monday-Thursday and at 12:40 on Fridays and early dismissal days.

>If your child is staying for Extended Care on a Friday, please send a lunch

>Parents or emergency contacts must sign out each student that has been checked in

before exiting the school yard. If an emergency contact is picking up for the first time, please ask them to be ready to show identification to Extended Care staff.

Mask Mandate/Recommendation Reminders and Update!

>Students, staff and volunteers must still remain masked when indoors.

>If parents are volunteering in the classroom or outside and interacting with students, they must be vaccinated or submit to a test before volunteering.

>Important Update ...it is no longer a requirement for parents to wear a mask when entering the school grounds as long as they remain outside and are not volunteering or directly interacting with students. This means that parents are no longer required to wear masks on campus while walking children to their classrooms or picking them up from Extended Care. I am aware that this is a small step forward, but it is in the right direction!

MORE EXCITING NEWS!

Please join us Monday morning, November 8 at 8:30AM as we welcome San Diego City Council member Mr. Joe LaCava to our school. He has issued a proclamation for a Stella Maris Academy Day in the city of San Diego in honor of our 75th Anniversary. We will gather together on the sports court for the presentation. Parents are encouraged to attend to show your spirit and support.

In closing, did you know that we have a hero in our midst? Our very own Mrs. Zack has received an Honorable Mention from the La Jolla Town Council for being nominated as one of La Jolla's Hometown Heroes. Congratulations to Mrs. Zack ...you will always be a hero in our book!

Blessings,

Francie Moss
