Class 2B News
March 19, 2015
From Ms. Jackie
Hello Families,
I hope that everyone had a fun and rejuvenating spring break! Here's what we're learning in 2B:
Reading
We are continuing to explore book series and review the reading strategies that we have learned this year. We are also doing more written responses to text, including summarizing and character analysis.
Writing
We are wrapping up our unit on opinion writing. As April is National Poetry Month (in the USA, that is) our next unit will focus on the rich language of poetry. This is a great time to share your favorite poems with your child, or to find some new favorites in the library.
Math
Unit 9, Measurement, is in full swing. Students are working on estimating and measuring the length, capacity, and weight/mass of objects. We will also explore the concepts of area and perimeter.
Unit of Inquiry
During these last weeks of our unit, Inventions and Inventors, students will begin building models for their own invention ideas. We need your help! Please send in any of the following items that students might be able to use for their models:
- water bottles
- cans
- boxes (of any shape or size)
- plastic or cardboard containers
- extra string, ribbon, rubber bands, etc.
This Friday, March 20, our class will have our follow-up trip to the Fekat Circus. We will leave school at 8:10 and return by 1:30. Please remember to have children bring lunch and snack, water bottle, and a hat.
Upcoming Dates
