You could win a TV!
Completing a free/reduced lunch application now could ensure benefits continue without interruption when the federal extension expires. Anyone who completes a free/reduced lunch application for this school year by midnight 9/30/20 will be included in a drawing for a free 50" smart TV. Any family who already submitted an application for this school year is already entered and does not need to fill out a second application to be registered in the drawing. Please use this link to complete your on-line application.

The winner will be selected from ALL applicants, even if they do not ultimately qualify for lunch benefits. The drawing will be held in early October and the winner will be notified by phone.
6th Grade Elective Rotations --Time to Rotate!
Virtual Edmond Students and Families
Middle School Virtual Edmond has hit a categorical mark as we close out the first 6-week block. On Monday, September 28, students will see their 2nd 6-week courses in APEX.
6th grade - Social Studies and Reading Strategies
7th grade - Social Studies and Music Appreciation I
8th grade - Social Studies and Computer Applications
Students who have not completed either or both of the first 6-week courses are allowed and expected to continue to work on those courses, and will need to begin the new courses as well. It is highly encouraged to finish English and science courses as close to the end of the 6-weeks as possible. Final grades for the first block of courses and subsequent courses will be entered in Infinite Campus at the end of the semester. Upon course completion, parents and students may look at the “Quality of Work” percentage to see the grade a student can expect to receive. When final grades have been manually entered by the teacher, students will receive notice in Apex of their final grades for courses. These are the grades that will go into Infinite Campus as final grades.

#ThinkBeforeYouPost
As we have these three stay-at-home days each week and Fall Break approaching, students usually have increased engagement with technology time. This extra time can open up a lot of free time for our students to be engaged on their personal devices and social media. We encourage our families to be aware of where those devices are during the holidays and during those late evenings. Our students can be easily drawn into situations that they typically wouldn't have engaged in personally with friends or acquaintances. We hope our #thinkbeforeyoupost campaign will help bring awareness to the mindfulness of words, pictures, and messages they compose and send through their device.
Our hope is to bring awareness to the amount of time our students are on devices and the activities they are engaged in on those devices. The focus would be to process our emotions in a healthy way and not to act or express our feelings through our devices. When emotionally posting it is important for our children to know that the use of false threats and inappropriate pictures is a federal crime. Encourage your child if they hear or see something suspicious, then say something to an adult and law enforcement. Anytime our students make bad choices with statements, posts, videos or pictures we have an assessment plan we follow at school. It is important to know that we thoroughly investigate any situation and involve law enforcement as necessary. Remember we want our workplace and school to be safe. My family is a part of the Edmond community, and I know that their teachers and staff in our district strategically handle all safety issues with the utmost importance.
Our School Resource Officers will provide educational lessons regarding #thinkbeforeyou post for our students in 7th grade on October 5th and 9th through Social Studies. Your support is necessary by continuing these discussions at home. Below are some resources for your reference.
#thinkbeforeyoupost is a goal that we can all work towards each day.

Parent/Teacher Virtual Conference Nights for Middle School Families
There are limited spots available and we want to make sure that our teachers connect with the parents that have students with the most need of a home to school connection. I know that parents often feel like they must meet with the teachers even if the parent doesn't feel like a meeting is absolutely necessary. I want to take that pressure away from you. No judgment at all!! If you feel like you need to talk with teachers - please feel free to sign up for a time. However, if you do not feel like it is necessary - do not feel like you have to sign up. Again, we would like to save our conference openings for those most in need of a conversation with individual/team of teachers.
The Sign-Ups will come to your email later this week.
Food Pantry Support
You can purchase items online and have them delivered to the school. This will be helpful to those who would like to help but are unable to make it to the grocery store or for those who like to shop online.
Please feel free to purchase items locally and deliver to the school as well, if that works best for you. If you would like to give additional items that are not listed on the Amazon list, we are always in need of many basic items, such as granola bars, mac n cheese, ravioli, cereal, crackers, toiletries, new socks, etc...
Donations can be brought to the Main Cheyenne office or you can contact Renae Duncan at: renae.duncan@gmail.com

Student ID Badges
Student IDs MUST be worn EVERY day with the district-issued lanyard and the picture must face out. No personal lanyards or bling, pins, etc. can be added.
If your student does not have their badge they will need to print a temporary badge for the day as they enter the gym. A temporary badge should only be needed on a rare occasion not for everyday use. After the third temporary badge students will serve lunch detention and on the 5th time alternative in-school placement for the day.
Purchase new IDS in the front office. The cost of a new ID Card, plastic pouch and lanyard will be as follows:
ID Card $2
Plastic Pouch $2
Lanyard $1
*Exact cash is preferred or we will have to make a charge to their in-touch account. Please check in-touch to see current ID fines.
Please continue to remind your child to put their badge in the same spot every day so that they have it with them every day. As they walk out the door or get into the car ask them these two things… Do you have your ID? Is your Chromebook charged?
