Vines Theatre Proudly Presents Little Women!
Based on the beloved novel of Louisa May Alcott's life, Little Women follows the adventures of sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo is trying to sell her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested – her friend, Professor Bhaer, tells her that she has to do better and write more from herself. Begrudgingly taking this advice, Jo weaves the story of herself and her sisters and their experience growing up in Civil War America.
Masks are strongly encouraged. Sanitizer and digital programs will be made available. We will have different seating options to accommodate those who wish to practice social distancing.
Premium seating available to certain tiers of Vines Theatre Booster Patrons. Visit tinyurl.com/VHSTheatreBooster for more information.
The show will run approx. 2 and a 1/2 hours with one 15-minute intermission.

Congratulations to our VASE Competitors!
Last Saturday, we had around 31 entries compete at regionals for VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event), which is in a nutshell, our annual art UIL competition. We had nineteen students receive a 4, which is the highest score one could receive, twelve students receive a 3, and one student that will be proceeding to compete in state. The students did amazing. For the score, they are by the names of the students and if you see two numbers, it means that the student had two entries. We are so very proud of these students!

Congratulations to our ViBoTs!
Last Saturday, the ViBoTs competed again 31 teams from all over North and Central Texas in a Super Qualifier at Hedrick Middle School in Lewisville, Texas. They represented Vines well in early qualification matches often scorning all of the points for their teams while their partners’ robots sat idle finishing the qualification matches in eighth place. However, their robust, well-programmed robot didn’t go unnoticed and was picked by the fourth place seed team to compete in the elimination matches.
In the elimination matches the ViBoTs held their own defeating the first place seeded team. However, we were unable to come out ahead falling short of winning the whole tournament and advancing to regionals by just one match. We did take home the Finalist Alliance trophy which is a fancy way of saying second place. Yes, out team completed in three qualifiers this season and made it to second place each time. Not too shabby for essentially a brand new team.
It was a tremendous effort to complete at this level, and I am very proud of our team. We built a lot of capacity this year, and I am looking forward to all of my 9th graders returning and adding a few new team members. We also have a few off-season activities to some.
We are very proud of our awesome ViBoTs team:
- Emily Chen
- Nathan Chiou
- Aakrist Godar
- Ivy Hill
- Charity Jones
- Lane Meeks
- Harsha Minakanti
- Matthew Mirea
- Anmol Murickananickal

Vines Celebrates Hope Week!
Tuesday- Twin Day! Remember asking for help is strong because it leads directly to staying alive, which is our goal. Tomorrow at lunch you will have the opportunity to get a semicolon tattoo. The semicolon represents the continuation of a sentence and the continuation of life.
Wednesday- Hippie Day! Remember today that there is nothing in nature that blooms all year long. So don't expect yourself to do so either.
Thursday- Wear Yellow for Hope! Happy National Day of Hope! Our goal is to bring our school community together through mental health education and awareness.
Friday- Rock On for Mental Health! Remember that everyone needs a friend like you in their life.
Dual Credit TSIA Test Information
If you are a current 10th grade student who is interested in taking a dual credit course, you are required to show that you are ready for college-level work. Your readiness can be demonstrated by your SAT or ACT scores or by taking the TSIA (Texas Success Initiative Assessment). The TSIA determines whether a student knows key prerequisite skills for college-level coursework. All students enrolling in Texas colleges and universities take the TSI assessment unless they are exempt through their SAT/ACT scores.
The TSIA is an untimed, multiple-choice test and essay that is taken online. The test is aligned to the Texas College and Career Readiness standards for math, reading, and writing. The test has three sections and most students finish within three to five hours. The test is $25 and your results are available to you immediately upon completion. Test results are valid for five years.
Vines will offer two test dates: February 25th and March 19th.

Teacher Appreciation Lunch
Hello again Vines families. With your generous support, we have been able to provide our amazing staff with two appreciation lunches this year, as well as smaller monthly staff treats (i.e. popcorn, candy bars, hot chocolate kits, ice cream bars, etc). This month, with your help, we will be catering in Piada to once again celebrate our fabulous Vines staff. A $10 donation provides lunch for one teacher but please feel free to donate whatever you can. No donation is too small. Thank you again for your support. We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the Vines community.

The Book Blurb
The Traitor's Game
Fantasy
Nothing is as it seems in the kingdom of Antora. Kestra Dallisor has spent three years in exile in the Lava Fields, but that won't stop her from being drawn back into her father's palace politics. He's the right hand man of the cruel king, Lord Endrick, which makes Kestra a valuable bargaining chip.
A group of rebels knows this all too well - and they snatch Kestra from her carriage as she reluctantly travels home. The kidnappers want her to retrieve the lost Olden Blade, the only object that can destroy the immortal king, but Kestra is not the obedient captive they expected.
Simon, one of her kidnappers, will have his hands full as Kestra tries to foil their plot, by force, cunning, or any means necessary. As motives shift and secrets emerge, both will have to decide what - and who - it is they're fighting for.
The Cerulean
Fantasy
Sera has always felt as if she didn’t belong among her people, the Cerulean. She is curious about everything and can’t stop questioning her three mothers, her best friend, Leela, and even the High Priestess. Sera has longed for the day when the tether that connects her City Above the Sky to the earthly world below finally severs and sends the Cerulean to a new planet.
But when Sera is chosen as the sacrifice to break the tether, she doesn’t know what to feel. To save her City, Sera must throw herself from its edge and end her own life. But something goes wrong and she survives the fall, landing in a place called Kaolin. She has heard tales about the humans there, and soon learns that the dangers her mother’s warned her of are real.
If Sera has any hope to return to her City, she’ll have to find the magic within herself to survive.
