Honoring Our Veterans
Collection for Veterans - Sponsored by Our Middle School Joan House
Veterans Day is coming up! St. Gabriel would like to help out veterans, so the VA has asked our school to collect shampoo, and soap. There is a great need for new socks, gloves, and hats in adult sizes. Let’s help our veterans out by donating! Please bring items to school by Thursday, November 10th. Thank you for supporting our veterans!

Notes from SEL
We also discussed the power that bystanders have in a bullying situation. A bystander's reaction to the bullying situation can cause the problem to shrink or grow. A bystander has a great power to help bullying stop by not reacting to a situation. We also discussed being thoughtful and learning from our conscience if we are joining in on teasing and later feel bad about it. This thoughtfulness builds empathy. Being an upstander doesn't always happen in the moment and that's ok!
Families with children K-5, please take some time to complete the Home Link resource, sign it and return it to school by next Wednesday, November 9. These discussions at home help reinforce the concepts taught at school and can lead to great discussion with your child.
Also, in the midst of the tragedy last week, please know that the counselors are able to support your children at school. If you feel like your child would benefit from extra support, please do not hesitate to reach out to the counselors via email.

Act of Contrition
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against You, whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In His name, my God, have mercy. Amen.

St. Gabriel Youth Group (SGYG)
SGYG is open to all high school teens of the parish as well as their non-parishioner friends. We meet on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-8:45pm (Doors Open at 7:15pm; Optional Socializing until 9pm) in the Gabriel House Chapel. No sign-up necessary! High schoolers can attend on a regular basis or drop-in as it fits their schedule!
NO SGYG tonight, Wednesday, Nov. 2nd nor Wednesday, Nov. 23rd.
Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who supported our Urban Candle fundraiser! We made $730 because of your generous support and love of candles!
This fundraiser and proceeds from the Block Party this past June have allowed us to buy enough supplies to assemble 100 Blessing Bags for the homeless, support the new Middle School Pro-Life Club by subsidizing the cost of their t-shirts, purchase "better" snacks and food for SGYG Nights as well as monthly breakfast for the 8th graders before school, and pay for current high schoolers to attend a Luke 18 Retreat. Looking to the future, we plan to use funds to keep t-shirt costs low for Generation Life, 8th Grade Retreat, and Steubenville 2023 and so much more!
Blessing Bags for the homeless
On Wednesday, Nov. 9th we will be assembling Blessing Bags for the homeless. Once bags are finished, they will be placed in bins in the church vestibule for anyone to take and give to the homeless. These bags will be a great way to show our love and care for the less fortunate as we think of and thank God for all of our blessings at Thanksgiving.
