The First Airplane
Flying high since 1905.
Who and When?
Orville and Wilbur Wright invented the very first airplane on December 17, 1903. This wasn't exactally the first plane yet, but it was the first heavier-than-air human flight. The first actual plane was finished in 1905. The brothers were employed at a bicycle shop. They became interesed in flight. They built a wind tunnel to experiment different models.

How It Works
The plane was made of wooden beams with canvas stretched over them. There were two wings that were parallel to eachother and propellers behind the wings that pushed the plane through the air. The plane also had two rudders near the end that the pilot could control with a system of pulleys. The pilot crouched on the bottom wing. Later versions had seats for the pilot
Benefits
The benefits of the airplane are that you can now travel from one place to another faster than a car or other mode of transportation.
