The Richardson Review
October 8, 2022
Dear Richardson Students & Families,
It was a busy and fun-filled week at Richardson! We kicked off the week with picture day - thank you to the volunteers that helped out that day! We also appreciated all the help from volunteers who supported our Kindergarten teachers on their field trip to Afton Apple Orchard.
Below you can see a short video that Ms. Ahlam made of Kindergarten's field trip. You will also see a picture of Mrs. Yang on her birthday (The kids decided she was turning 21 this year...LOL!!!), students participating in bus safety trainings, and some students who enjoyed their field trip so much they needed a little rest on the bus ride back to school (so cute) .
For some kindergarten students, this field trip was their first bus ride - so the trip was extra exciting. Having our students participate in bus safety trainings each year helps to ensure all students understand how to be safe on the bus. Another program we will have this year to ensure every student has a positive experience on the bus is safety patrols - our student patrols started their jobs yesterday! Our safety patrol program is a wonderful opportunity for students to develop leadership skills, to support our school community in being safe during arrival and dismissal, and to ensure Richardson is welcoming to everyone. Patrols help out with busses, walkers/drop off during arrival, with breakfast and in the cafeteria at pick up/dismissal.
One of our "Hopes and Dreams" for Richardson this year is to provide leadership opportunities for our students, so they can see how their actions can make a positive impact on their community. Our patrols are one step we are taking to allow students to be actively involved in making Richardson the best school around!!! Above you will see an image of Mrs. Corcoran's (3rd grade) "Hopes and Dreams" wall. I love that the images are of super heroes - our safety patrols are definitely "Richardson heroes". Thank you Mr. Habbe and Mr. Thao for organizing our patrols this year!
Please feel free to contact the main office, or me, at any time with questions, concerns, and/or suggestions. My contact information is mhoude@isd622.org or 651-748-6910.
Together,
Mrs. Houde (pronounced "hood")
