Midterm Meeting Considerations
As you go into these meetings with the university supervisors and candidates, please have all forms scored so your consensus meetings will go more smoothly. These forms are in your CT packets and can also be found on our CT website. During the meeting, a consensus score will be determined, with everyone sharing their own scores and evidence to get there.
Here are some questions to consider:
1. What dispositions and skills does your candidate demonstrate strongly and consistently?
2. What needs more attention? How can your candidate improve? Set 2-3 goals.
3. Are you happy with your candidate's level of involvement? Is your candidate happy with this as well?
4. Is your candidate getting the experience needed and demonstrating the dispositions and skills needed to move successfully to the next phase of their education program?
For Phase 2 Yearlongs moving to Phase 3 in the spring in the same classroom*
1. Is your candidate getting enough experience now with planning, teaching, assessing, and managing so that they are ready for student teaching in a few months?
2. Are you comfortable giving your candidate more responsibility for phase 3?
3. Is your candidate someone you would want teaching your own relatives and/or working as your colleague some day?
*If you have answered no to the above questions, please discuss your concerns with the assigned supervisor.
Teacher Clarity: Supporting Our Candidates
1. What are the students learning?
2. Why are they learning it?
3. How will you know they have learned it?
