Dear JE families,
We had a fabulous Read Across America week! It was an absolute joy to see students dressed in spirit wear--whether it be stripes, mismatched clothes or pajamas, there was great literacy spirit in the halls of JE! Thank you to all of you for supporting this week at home. Please see a couple of fun pictures below of a few guest readers that shared a book with JE classes!
I want to offer our support to the many families we have at Eaton who are impacted either directly or indirectly by the war and Russian occupation of Ukraine. Our hearts and thoughts go out to all those who have family and friends living near this area and in the surrounding Eastern European countries as they are affected by these events. My thoughts are with all of you during this very difficult time.
Below, you can find reminders about a few key upcoming events:
- Spelling Bee
- Red Sox Game
- Fun Run
Thank you all!
Caitlin

Read Across America Week March 7th-11th
Read Across America
We will be celebrating Read Across America this week with Literacy Spirit Week and Guest Readers in the Library.
See the Read Across America-Literacy Spirit Week flyer for the details.
From the Health Office:
Hearing screening will take place starting next week 3/14-3/18 for our second graders. If you would like to opt your second grader out of being screened, please email me directly by Friday, March 11th. elmy.trevejo@reading.k12.ma.us.
Also, just a reminder, please send your students in with an extra set of back-up clothing. Unlike last year, students are allowed to leave items in their lockers. Many students have needed clothing changes due to the conditions outside. I have a limited supply in the health office. If we do not have appropriate back up, and your child needs a clothing change, we will have to call home to have clothes brought in. Thanks for your understanding.
-Mrs. Trevejo
Attendance Matters!
We certainly understand that there is a potential increase in absences due to illness this year because of Covid. We appreciate your vigilance and support in helping to keep everyone safe. We also have seen an increase in unexcused absences, especially around extended vacations. We are required to share your children's' absences and tardy data. You will be receiving a letter in the coming weeks if your child has more than 5 unexcused absences and we are requesting communication on how we can work together to make sure your child is attending school regularly. It's important that we set your children up for success, especially as the past few years have been unpredictable, and attending school regularly is essential to student success. Please reach out with any questions.
