Myers Library - Nancy Hniedziejko
Third and fourth grade students at Myers completed a 6 week course on being a good digital citizen, which included the importance of having a good digital footprint. The students were given props and asked to identify how each one represented having a good digital footprint.
They identified that...
- a lock represented keeping your password safe;
- a bar of soap represented keeping your words clean;
- a tube of toothpaste represented that once you say something, you can never take it back
- a permanent marker represented everything you do on line, stays online forever.
The culminating activity was to create a video that showed what they learned. Using the WeVideo app on their Chromebooks, students filmed their videos. Once the media was created, they had to turn it into a project and add a theme with text and music. Since they created the projects in WeVideo, everything was saved on their Google Drives. They are sharing their videos with first and second grade students who access it through their Google Drives. Myers students use their Google Drives to do the 3 Cs: collaborate, communicate and compromise.
Kahoot - Cheltenham High School
Kahoot Create and play quizzes, discussions or even surveys using any device including a laptop, iPad, Chromebook, iPhone, Pc and more !
Read the below reviews from some of our favorite high School teachers!
Steve Midzak, Algebra Teacher - You can make Multiple Choice quizzes or even look up pre-made quizzes on different topics. When you run a quiz, you project the quiz on the smart board and the students use anything with a web browser (phones, tablets, laptop) to answer. You can make it a timed competition or just to see what the students know. So far the students have loved it and it pretty much engages all the students. You'll get instant feedback on each question. In addition, the site keeps a record of which quizzes you've given and data for how the students did on it which you can download as an Excel spread sheet. Just wanted to let you guys know about it - I definitely think it's worth the time to check out.
Dave Clark & Katie Donnelly, Life Skills Teachers - We used it today in the Skills for Life Class for several activities, it was great! We watched “Our Friend Martin” in order to review the life of Martin Luther King Jr. and used Kahoot as our assessment to what our students took from the movie. We also used it as a review quiz about our Career Guest Speakers (sort of a mid-term review without the midterm).
Susan Greenwald, Geometry Teacher - We used it to review properties of similar triangles. The students LOVED it. It's easy to set up, and they keep asking when they can play next. I'd definitely recommend trying it out!
