A.C.E. Adventurers
January 2020 News
Happy New Year! :) We hope and pray you all had a blessed and restful Christmas. We are excited to be back and ready to learn and have a lot of fun!
We will be visiting Antarctica this month! We will be having fun with ice and snow experiments and sampling some freeze dried food. The only people that live in Antarctica are scientists so we will be putting on our scientist hats and diving deep into research and even using walkie talkies to relay our findings.
Did you know that Antarctica is actually the largest desert in the world? They get such little precipitation, it is considered arid enough to be a desert. Also, polar bears and penguins are not friends...or even enemies. Penguins live in the south and polar bears live in the northern region.

Parent Connection
We had a great month of December! We had such a fun time at our first annual Festive Family Fun night! Our December mission was a huge success for the foster children of the First United Methodist Children's home. The donations were so plentiful and generous that we were able to fill 61 gift bags for ages 6 months to 19 years old. We were so touched by your generosity, thank you so much for donating!

Get your aprons out, your best chili recipe ready, grab your favorite game and join us on Saturday, January 25 for the church's annual Chili Cook-off and Game Night. There will be prizes for the best tasting, the most creative presentation, etc. Each entrant will need to provide their own 4x4 card table (decorated of course!) and chili cooked up and brought in warm (there aren’t enough outlets for everyone’s crockpots). For planning purposes, if you plan on bringing a chili, please sign up online at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b054aaaaf2ba46-chili2. If you are unable to sign up in advance, please don’t let that stop you from joining the competition! Last minute entrants welcome.
Family Life Committee will provide hot dogs and drinks. If you’re not a chili cook, just bring a side or dessert to share. We could also use donations of prizes (gift cards or small gifts). Donations can be dropped off in the church office. Come early for worship at 5:30. The dinner will begin at 6:30. If you can help with this event, please contact Tina Stafford at 937-885-6839. Thanks!
