Exciting News, CRES Families!
I have just learned that the Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation will be expanding the elementary literacy project not only here at CRE, but at all 12 HSE elementary schools. We will now have access to one Fountas & Pinnell benchmarking kit per grade level as well as the accompanying professional development. This program not only aids struggling and plateaued readers, but continues our drive toward best practices in literacy instruction!
This expansion is a direct result of the success of the Game Day fundraiser in March. I know that many of our families participated in the effort by sponsoring, attending, or participating in the silent auction. I especially appreciate our PTOs efforts in supporting the silent auction. Your work and donations have made a huge impact on our school and our district. Thank you! Please consider visiting the Foundation’s website to learn more at www.hsefoundation.org and follow their efforts on facebook and twitter.

FIELD DAY VOLUNTEERS
CRES Field Day is on May 29 and we need YOU!
Volunteers are needed for both morning and afternoon shifts to help supervise and direct games. To help you plan your volunteering shift, the 3rd and 4th grade field day will be from 9:30-11:30am and 1st and 2nd grade will be from 1:00-3:00pm. The games are centered around a theme and all created by Mrs. Fox. So all we need is YOU and your excitement to help make this a success!
If you are interested in helping out in the morning or afternoon and want to be part of a fun-filled day, you can contact the field day coordinator, Amy Roudebush, by email at amyroudebush@gmail.com or by phone 317-690-1709 and she will be happy to assign you a spot and a game to direct.
Your help is much appreciated and we need YOU to come out on May 29th and enjoy with us CRES Field Day 2015!! Make your kid's day and come out and PLAY!!!

Library News
It is that time of year when all library materials need to be returned so that I can take inventory and get those shelves back in order!
ALL MATERIALS (Books and Magazines) WERE DUE THIS PAST WEEK. (If students are working on a project for class, they may keep those books until they are finished with the project.) I set up a new notification system in our library program. Every Sunday afternoon a report will run for all patrons that have past due items out. You will start getting an email on Sunday if your child has materials out that are past due. Paper notices were also sent home this week if your child still has books out. Please take time to look for those and return them as soon as possible. I will request payment for any books not returned by May 22nd. Thank you for your help in getting all materials returned.

Thank you Girl Scout Troop 1911 for all of the clinic supplies!!!
Girl Scout Troop 1911 members working on their “Take Action Project” decided to help with supplies for the CRES clinic. They saw that there is an ongoing need for supplies in the clinic and got involved. They shopped for many much-needed items that I use to help the students on a daily basis. They made posters asking for donations so everyone in the school could help support their school clinic. These girls are true leaders! Thank you so much for realizing a need and working on an ongoing solution!

All first grade classes will be showcasing our month-long PBL (Problem Based Learning) study of backyard animals with posters, projects, and displays. When you come to the Young Author Book Display that night in the gym, take a stroll down the first grade hallway to enjoy and appreciate our local animal friends!
A sincere THANK YOU to all of the CRES families who helped make this school year a great one. The Parent-Teacher Organization is so much more than the four elected officers...it is each and every one of YOU! The parents & guardians who encourage school spirit in their kiddos, participate in fundraising efforts, volunteer, attend special events, and everything in between...YOU are the PTO.
Because of YOU, we were able to give CRES more than $29,000 throughout this school year. These funds have and will continue to directly benefit our kids! Capital improvement and classroom enrichment made up approximately 85% of our expenses this school year, and include tables to foster more effective learning environments and a number of different assessment tools to continue driving towards best practices in literacy instruction.
We are so proud of the CRES Community and all that we've done together to provide this financial support, and we are even more proud of the events that we've sponsored and/or supported that have deepened our sense of community...Ice Cream Social, Grillin' & Chillin', Engineering Night, and CRES Fest were great successes because of YOU!
Thank you.
