Mila, a member of Sward's Kindness Club, organized a delivery of 600 purple blankets from Blankets of Hope. Blankets of Hope is an educational nonprofit that helps students practice empathy & kindness in an impactful service-learning experience. 2019 was the last time Hannum was able to host their annual talent show. Students, teachers, and parents eagerly awaited the return of talent show, which took place April 21,2022. Students showcased their abilities in singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments. A former Hannum student also took the stage to show off her skills in solving a Rubik's Cube.
Hometown's Coffee Cart provides students with the opportunity to practice brewing coffees through a color coded work system. In addition, they deliver coffees, where they practice having conversations and handling money. Hometown's Coffee Cart is a partnership with the Dunkin' Donuts on 108th and Cicero.
On Friday Covington celebrated Earth Day! Grade 2 students read the classic story of Miss Rumphius, then they all planted seeds including Lupines and watermelon! Students talked about ways to make the world a more beautiful place.

For the past two years, the OLHMS Yearbook has been awarded with being featured in Balfour's The Yearbook Yearbook, a national and overseas publication that showcases exceptional work in theme development, design, and photography. The 2020 yearbook was featured for outstanding spread design.
