Mrs. Stevenson's Message
Dear South Creek Families,
We had great attendance and wonderful holiday fun before the Winter intercession at Breakfast with Santa, the 3rd- 4th grade Holiday program, Polar Express, Sounds of the Season, and the Winter party. Thank you to staff, parents, and PTO for providing support at all of these events.
Happy New Year! Our resolution is to continue to make decisions that put students first!
The staff and I will be analyzing the NWEA and ACUITY data to make purposeful instructional decisions that drive classroom lessons. We will begin DIBELS testing for all students K-5 starting January 9th and during PLC’s we will use the data to make informed decisions regarding teacher table and intervention groups.
I encourage you to like South Creek’s Facebook page and join South Creek’s PTO. We try to post day to day events on the Facebook page. We are so blessed at South Creek for having supporting families and students that reach for excellence everyday!
South Creek is a school of hope, guided by knowledge, inspired by love.
Toni Stevenson, Principal

Parallel Teaching Making an Impact on Student Performance
South Creek's newly implemented math lab is proving successful for students in grades 1 through 5. Each pretest gives us valuable information on how to best meet the needs of the diverse learners here at SC. Qualifying students receive an additional exposure of the same math lesson taught during their math block. The math lab lessons are quick, upbeat, engaging, extremely intentional and skill specific. The chart below shows the growth from pretest to post-test for students where who in math lab for the entire unit. Some of the biggest gains were in fifth grade where the average of unit 2's pre-test jumped 70 percentage points to a post-test average of 80%. First grade has had gains of 63 percentage points and second has had gains of 47. Third and fourth-grade groups are gaining as well. Each grade has had gains of nearly 50 percentage points. This is a testament to the hard work our students and staff are putting forth each day.
!Happy New Years! by Faith Smith
Hey Gators! Did you have a good New Years? Well I know I did. The thing I liked doing the most was staying up late and watching the ball drop. Here are some other kid’s opinions on what they liked doing on New Years! One little girl said she loved banging pots and pans at midnight when the ball drops. Another boy said that he liked drinking sparkling grape juice. Some kids even said that they blew confetti poppers in her house. I hope you got some ideas about what you can do on New Years Eve and day. Happy New Years!!!!!!
New Year Plans! by Teegan Quick
Hey Gators, guess what it is 2017! WOW time flies! There has been so many amazing moments in 2016, like we celebrated South Creeks 10 years of excellence, or the new Gator Guild Crew (they are awesome at making kids smile)! We also got Miss Parks here at South Creek! Who is excited for more to come in 2017? I decided to interview 2 very important people, 1 person that make our convocations and fun assignments possible….. Miss Parks! I asked her some questions on the topic of the new year! The first question I wanted to ask was if she have any BIG plans for 2017? She said that she is excited for the New years! She also told me that she has a lot of fun coming up with exiting plans and she also has a lot of fun stuff for us in 2017! The last thing she told me was that 2017 is gonna be way better than 2016!
Well Gators, I hope you loved that small but exciting interview with Miss Parks! And have a Happy New Year! Have a wonderful year South Creek and make the best out of 2017!
Back to School by Reece Koomler
Are you ready to go back to school? I can’t believe that we are already going back to school. It felt like we only had one day off when we had two weeks! It was so much fun opening gifts, getting to spend time with family, and playing in the snow, but now we get to go back to school and have some fun.
When you do go to school you should have a growth mindset and not get mad when you get a question wrong.
Have Fun!
