Apex Fun Run

We are so excited to kick off WCH PTO's major fundraiser this year- the APEX Fun Run! Our Pep Rally was held today at 1:15pm in the gym. Apex Fun Run is a local company and will be on campus for 2 weeks teaching our students about leadership and fitness. During the Apex Fun Run, students will be challenged to get pledges for the laps they will run on Fun Run day. Funds raised this year will be used to improve our Library (books/resources) and Technology. The race day will be Thursday, October 27th. Please visit our sign up genius to volunteer on race day - http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0445AEA72FA0FF2-volunteer2

Discovery Gifted and Talented Program

Discover is the academic enrichment/acceleration program provided for students who have been identified as intellectually gifted and talented. All students from 2nd to 5th grade are eligible to be selected for the Discovery program. We are now accepting referrals from parents. The referral window will close this Friday on October 21, 2016 (no referrals will be accepted after this date). Click here for more information and the referral form.

Annual Character Parade

On Friday, October 28th at 7:45am we will have our annual Character Parade (this will be in place of our assembly). Students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite story book character and bring their books to school to share. Student’s costumes must be related to their book. “Fake” weapons are not allowed as part of their costume (guns, swords, light-sabers, etc.). Parents are invited to attend but must raptor in before entering the building. To avoid long raptor lines, please RSVP to our receptionist if you plan to attend our Character Parade.

Donna Wright, parent and PTO board member, invites parents to participate this year in a unique and creative way. Click here for more information!

Wild About Reading at WCH

Beginning this week, WCH kicks off the Wild About Reading program. Did you know good reading skills increase a child's vocabulary, boost a child's self-esteem, and improve a child's ability to think creatively and critically? With this program, all students, KG-5th, will log their reading minutes on logs provided by classroom teachers. Students will earn stripes for their grade level's Tulley the Tiger. Each stripe earns a celebration for the entire grade level. It will be FUN so please join us!
