February 4th - 8th
Highlights from our week:
Shared Reading - This week our class used the story Snowmen at Night to discuss text details, important events, characters, and the main idea. Students enjoyed hearing about the creative activities his snowman did at night. Students completed an assessment on this book via Seesaw. Ask your child about what snowmen really do at night!
Writing - This week students began their writing project. Students began and completed research on an animal of their choice throughout the week. Research will conclude next week with students creating their own informational book to be shared with the other first grade classes.
Math Assessment: Due to the prior closures, the science/social studies block was used to finish January assessments. These will continue next week.
Math - This week our class completed Unit 4 related to the number line and measuring. The unit assessment that was viewed during conferences reflects the information learned over Unit 4, but these concepts will continue to be reviewed throughout the remainder of the school year. Unit 5 began on Wednesday with a focus on 2D shapes. The February calendar will also involve identifying shapes and determining if shapes are congruent (the same).
