Happy Faculty & Staff Appreciation Month!

My mother often tells the story of how scared I was going to preschool for the first time. I attended Castle in the Clouds, a wonderful preschool on 120th and Western. When my mom picked me up, Mrs. Lew said that I was a PERFECT student as long as I was able to sit on Mrs. Cindy Lew's lap when I got scared. I would play for a few minutes then look for Mrs. Cindy Lew and motion to sit on her lap. She would comfort me and remind me that my mom would soon be arriving. Once the fear was gone, I would begin playing again with the other students.

Isn't that what teaching is all about? Providing children the courage to explore their world!

This week we celebrate the Faculty and Staff of Verbum Dei High School for their commitment to positively impacting the lives of their students and encouraging all our young men to explore.

In Him,

Dr. OL

SB188- The Crown Act

Senator, and Verbum Dei, supporter Holly Mitchell recently authored SB188- The Crown Act which is designed to end discrimination against Black workers and students who choose to wear their natural hair. In lieu of this, and with consideration of student request for amendments to the Verbum Dei hair policy, Verbum Dei Administration will be reviewing the current hair policy to ensure it is just for all students and meets the goals of Verbum Dei! Stay tuned.

Grad at Grad

The Grad at Grad is a list of six characteristics that all Jesuit, Cristo Rey schools hope their graduates will embody. For Verbum Dei, this list represents the overall goals of our academic, athletic, and spiritual programs.
