Teacher PLCs
1. Please identify 2-3 resources that you either currently use for Literacy to cover the 5 big areas (Phonics, Phonemic Awareness, Fluency, Comprehension, Vocabulary) during either your teacher table or within your Must Do/May Dos OR you can locate new resources that you think looks great to try! Please send that information to me and I will work with Niki, Amy, and Jenny to get this uploaded into our Canvas Page. For example, I know that Kaitlyn has a learning routine for sight words and letter recognition. These would be resources we can upload into the fluency sections. Another example would be the Words their Way lessons. I will work with Niki to get those uploaded into the correct categories.
2. Work on adding Board Math questions to your file based on your Math Cap results.
3. Work on class lists. This will be a multi-step process which will be explained in an email.
4. Identify the most important content to work on when we return. The District has just created teams of administrators to complete this work at each grade level. Stay tuned for more information.
PLC notes should be uploaded into your grade level PLC padlet. Thank you to those who have already added notes about your conversations.
Hourly Staff
We will have updated information about professional development this week for everyone with exception of preschool. All preschool staff, teachers and paras, are already participating in professional development.
Assessment updates-per the Iowa Department of Educations's recent update
We will not be using the Iowa Assessments this year. We have been instructed to pack up all the Iowa Assessment materials that might have been ordered and return the materials to Iowa Testing. Heidi Anthony is taking care of this task for the District. By waiving Iowa Assessment requirements this year, we have added a little more instructional time back into the school year.
Special Education testing is similar for Iowa Alternate Assessments and DLM. These tests will not be utilized when we return this year. We will utilize the Fall assessment window results when we look at data for decision making.
The ELPA testing window will close when we return to school. ELPA materials need to be returned. Any student that already took the ELPA before school closed will receive a score in mid-May. The scores can be used for placement decisions. The DE will be developing guidance regarding exit criteria. The ELPA can still be used as a screener for new students when we return.
FAST screening and progress monitoring is still suspended until April 20th. More information to come on this.
Construction updates
Here is some updated information:
Apr. 9-13 Prep work will begin in one of the tunnels.--this is going to start March 30th
Apr. 14- May 8 Work will begin after school into the late night in the tunnels/Boiler room
Classroom and hallway lighting will be updated as well.
Leesa has been packing up the back room of the office so we can get things moved in a timely manner.
Stay tuned for future guidance on what we will do with classrooms depending on when school resumes.
