Bobcat Bulletin
February 22, 2016
Dear Staff,
These next few week are loaded with activities. We have the Gold Ribbon visit (date still to be determined), Benchmark 2 three week window, Student Led Parent Conferences, Leadership days and that is what's on my radar. I see many others events on the master calendar. (Can you all see the FSS Master Calendar on your google calendar? If not please ask for help) Please work with your grade level leader as well as your Lighthouse team member to prepare for the upcoming events.
During walk throughs this week, I will focus on what our students are learning in math. Building lessons using the 33% Conceptual, 33% Procedural and 33% Relational Knowledge balance is our instructional plan. Most of our math manipulatives have arrived. Nydia will have them to you as soon as they are all in. You may ask Yvette or Nydia if you need something now.
We have decided to spend our newly released money on:
K-3 Scholastic News and 4-6th Newsela-$3,000
K-6 Guided Leveled Reader sets from Fountas and Pinnell-$7,000
Math/ELA-before and after school tutoring-$10,000
#2 Instructional rounds/Peer walk throughs/peer observation-See Yvette-$3,000
#3 Planning day-$3,000
Summer LIM planning day-$4,000
I hope you will each find the 10 hours of math or ELA tutoring something you will utilize. This is a great opportunity to work on below grade level skills or take others even further. The plan is up to you. I would like to see each of you select a small group of your students you will meet with once or twice a week, before or after school, 30 min or 60 min and work with them. You can call the parents or send a letter home. Fill out a time sheet with Nydia. Please see me or questions or ideas.
Enjoy your week!
Stephenie

Instructional Focus
Engagement strategies- Creative use of call backs and tight management tools.
Refinement:
Math instruction. Standards based lessons utilizing UCI strategies with purposeful conceptual practices. Taking math to writing. Explaining answers.
Leader in Me
Work in these areas:
School and Class leadership roles-Work with your PLC team and your class to list all roles/jobs, then help students select a role. Roles should not rotate and everyone should have a role-no vacations. We are helping ALL students identify with their leadership role in class or on Campus.
Leadership Notebooks-Help students organize their tabs, set and monitor their goals. Work with you Lighthouse Team member for ideas.
Student Led Conferences-Coming this March! Work with your Lighthouse Team member to discuss the plan and the student script.
