Mrs. R's Wacky Wednesday News
WEDNESDAY, September 6, 2017
It seemed so strange starting our week on a Wednesday, but we worked hard!
In class...
SCIENCE: This week we are wrapping up our first engineering unit. We finished testing out our handcrafted bubble wands today (see pics and videos below), and will work on reviewing the results and deciding what we could have done differently to be more successful tomorrow. Ask your student about this project!
Social Studies: We are ready to work on citizenship. Be on the lookout for resources.
Workshop: Coming soon - a video collage of our small group ideas of what real reading and fake reading look and sound like! Students used iPads in small groups today to make 1-2 minute clips of examples.
Math: We are continuing to work on the concept of using number bonds to make a whole number (see photo for example).
Language: We have started our King and Queen of the Day project. We have students sit on the "throne" and answer questions while recording it on our charts to hang around the room. This helps us develop relationships while learning about spelling and writing!

Fundraisers & Events
Elementary Football Night: Please join the elementary schools at Southwick Stadium THIS FRIDAY (the 8th) by 6:30 to run the field and cheer on the Pirates! A purple page came home last week with information about free student admission. Hope to see you there!
YANKEE CANDLE: Friday we will be sending home a fundraising packet. The sale will go from September 11th - 25th. This will help our PTA do great things for our school and they SMELL SO YUMMY! (They make great holiday gifts for loved ones! Why not start planning ahead?)
McDonald's: Tuesday, September 19th is our first McD's fundraiser night. I will be there between 5:30 and 7. Hope to see you there!
