Bible study today at 4pm in GAC 162!
This week in worship we will be taking about what it means to live with purpose. Barbara Brown Taylor even relegates this to a spiritual practice. How do we live with purpose? I think for a lot of us that comes down to our chosen course of study or career. We hope that we are choosing life's work that will feel purposeful, meaningful, and fulfilling.
But does our chosen course of study or career have to be the be all and end all of what makes us feel fulfilled and like our life has meaning? Do we have to get paid to do the thing that we are most passionate about? And what happens when our chosen career doesn't necessarily line up with what makes us feel most alive?
I think these can be hard questions. I know that I wrestled with them when I was in college. I was so afraid of making a mistake. What if I was in the wrong degree program? What if I never got a job that really made me happy? Where would I find my purpose then?
I think that society sometimes convinces us that if we aren't happy then we're doing the wrong thing. But I think of the many ways in which God called and worked through people in the Bible. People like Moses and Jeremiah...neither of whom who were particularly excited about the things that God called them to do.
I love this quote from theologian Howard Thurman:
“Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
What is making you come alive?
As always, my office is open to you!
Blessings,
Nadia

NCF Bible Study Thursdays at 4pm!
Harvesters Christian Fellowship: Fridays at 7 pm in GAC 151!
Iron Sharpens Iron.
Harvesters is intended to build community among Christians at Nazareth College. In fellowship, we encourage and sharpen one another in our constant pursuit of intimacy with God. We are called to ‘harvest the field’ that God has placed us in. By responding to this call with passionate worship, prayer, and service, we strive to bring revival and unity to our campus and beyond. Ultimately, our vision is to be our generation’s demonstration of an Acts church - a growing and maturing body of believers living out the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We meet every Friday 7-9 PM in the GAC Community Room (first floor). Our time together consists of prayer, worship, and a study of scripture. If you enjoy pizza, ping pong, and healthy discussion, come join us! All are welcome.
"The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few." - Matthew 9:37
"Don't you have a saying, 'It's still four months until harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." - John 4:35
