The links below provide an overview of our work as well as answers to common questions that we have been fielding from families.

(Virtual) Link Crew Orientation Event for New Freshmen

Big picture

On Friday, Aug. 28th, we will host our annual Link Crew Freshman Orientation event. This is a great way for our 9th-grade students to kick off their high-school careers, and the only change we're making to this year's plan is that the event will be held virtually.

Link Crew Orientation (which is different from 9th-grade Timberwolf Registration Days) is a great opportunity for all freshmen to get better acquainted with what they can expect at MVHS, learn about getting involved in the various programs, clubs, and events at MVHS, and, importantly, have fun and meet new friends. Each freshman will be “linked” to a Link Crew leader (hand-selected junior or senior) who will mentor a small group of freshmen throughout the 2020-2021 school year and ensure that all freshmen in their respective groups have the information they need to start the school year on a successful note.

All freshmen are strongly encouraged to participate in the Orientation on the 28th. Link Crew leaders will contact all freshmen via email no later than Thursday, Aug. 27th, with specific details and information about joining the virtual event.

If you have any questions, please contact one of our Link Crew coordinators:

The Process: A (mostly) Drive-Thru Event

In order to prioritize the health and safety of our students, staff, and families, Timberwolf Days will be a Drive-thru process with three steps:

  1. Data Confirmation Check (see the section above)
  2. Student ID/Yearbook Photo
  3. Technology Distribution (if needed)

*Masks will be required for all students and parents who enter onto the MVHS campus.

Online Data Confirmation (via Parent Portal)

The annual data confirmation (a.k.a., re-registration) window is open and available via Parent Portal. During this process, families will verify emergency contact information, update student health history, and complete various forms that are required each year.

This process MUST BE COMPLETED prior to Timberwolf Days (on-campus registration).

Unlike in years past, students/families will NOT be required to print any documents from the Portal to turn in during Timberwolf Days.

This video tutorial may be helpful for those who are starting the data confirmation process.

If you have any questions or are having any trouble with the data confirmation process, please call our Front Office.

Timberwolf Registration Days will take place this year in a scaled-down, drive-thru format. Please see details below, or click here to see the flyer.

Student Course Schedules

MVHS staff working hard to create the master schedule of courses for each model. Students can expect access to their course late during the week of 8/31. Not all courses will be able to be offered in each learning model (Classic or Virtual). In the case of our choir program, for example, state health guidelines necessitate that choral courses be offered in the Virtual format only. This is the only program in which state health guidelines do not provide us an option at this point.

As is the case every year, course change requests will be available, and changes will be considered if there is room in courses and the course change aligns to students' post-secondary goals.

First Day of School is September 8th

Common Expectations for Supporting Student Learning in 2020-2021

Creating rigorous and meaningful learning experiences for all students is a priority for the upcoming school year.

This document outlines expectations for all stakeholder groups including students, teachers, and our partners in education, our parents.

Daily Learning Schedule

We are nearly through the approval process for our daily learning schedule, and we will share it with all families as soon as it is completed. Here's what families can expect in general:

  • Start/End Times similar to our traditional bell schedule
  • Students engage in all four classes each day
  • Class "periods" of 65 minutes on Late Start Monday, and 80 minutes Tues-Friday; this does not mean that students will be in front of a screen for the entire class time.
  • Office hour options each day
