Science+Literacy=Better Together
A Two-Day Iowa Core Science Module 4 Workshop for K-5
Attention K-5 Science Educators & the Instructional Coaches & Administrators Who Support Them!
Participants will don their student-learner hats as they complete an immersion in a three-dimensional storyline that uses literacy strategies to support students figuring out applicable Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCI) through Science and Engineering Practices (SEP) in order to understand a Crosscutting Concept (CCC). We will compare content and disciplinary literacy and consider what it means to view like a scientist. Day 2 examines what it means to write, talk, and listen like a scientist and how we can support and cultivate these characteristics in our elementary scientists to meet both the Iowa Core Literacy AND Science standards.
