Avery Grambs is shocked to learn that recently deceased billionaire Tobias Hawthorne has left her his entire fortune. Avery has no idea why -- or even who Tobias Hawthorne is. To receive her inheritance, Avery must move into the secret passage-filled Hawthorne House, which is also occupied by the billionaire’s grandsons who believe she is a conwoman and are determined to take her down. Caught in a world of wealth and privilege, with danger around every turn, Avery will have to play the games of twisted riddles and puzzles just to survive. Buzzfeed says this "impossible to put down" novel with its deadly stakes, thrilling twists, and juicy secrets is perfect for fans of One of Us is Lying and Knives Out.
After her mother dies in an accident, sixteen-year-old Bree Matthews wants nothing to do with her family memories or childhood home. A residential program for bright high schoolers seems like the perfect escape—until Bree witnesses a magical attack her very first night on campus. A flying demon feeding on human energies. A secret society of so called “Legendborn” students that hunt the creatures down. And a mysterious teenage mage who calls himself a “Merlin” who attempts—and fails—to wipe Bree’s memory of everything she saw. As a result, Bree’s own unique magic is unlocked, forcing her to decide how far she’ll go for the truth and whether she should use her magic to take the society down—or join the fight.
Some people are extraordinary. Some are just extra. New York Times and USA Today bestselling author TJ Klune's YA debut, The Extraordinaries, is a queer coming-of-age story about a fanboy with ADHD and the heroes he loves. Nick Bell? Not extraordinary. But being the most popular fanfiction writer in the Extraordinaries fandom is a superpower, right? After a chance encounter with Shadow Star, Nova City’s mightiest hero (and Nick’s biggest crush), Nick sets out to make himself extraordinary. And he’ll do it with or without the reluctant help of Seth Gray, Nick's best friend (and maybe the love of his life).
Remembering 9/11
Abbi is like every other teenager, with a smallish exception: her famous alter ego, Baby Hope, is the subject of internet memes. On September 11, 2001 Abbi was captured in what became an iconic photograph: in the picture, Abbi (aka "Baby Hope") wears a birthday crown and grasps a red balloon; just behind her, the South Tower of the World Trade Center is collapsing. Now, fifteen years later, Abbi is desperate for anonymity and decides to spend her summer incognito as a camp counselor two towns away. This is a poignant and hopeful novel about resilience and reinvention, first love and lifelong friendship, the legacies of loss, and the stories we tell ourselves in order to survive. This book is available on Sora in ebook and audiobook format.
This graphic novel chronicles the immediate aftermath and rippling effects of one of the most impactful days in modern history: September 11, 2001. The consequences of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York City, both political and personal, were vast, and continue to reverberate today. Don Brown brings his journalistic eye and attention to moving individual stories to help teens contextualize what they already know about the day, as well as broaden their understanding of the chain of events that occurred in the attack’s wake. Profound, troubling, and deeply moving, In the Shadow of the Fallen Towers bears witness to our history—and the ways it shapes our future.
