If I Had One Week Left To Live
Bucket List by: Anum Ayub
Hi!
My name is Anum and I live in Mississauga, Ontario. I am 17 years old and would love the opportunity to travel around the world. I enjoy the idea of immersing myself in a culture or activity in an environment unknown to me. Traveling gives one a great opportunity to distance themselves from the life they have and grow as an individual through education about different lifestyles. If given an opportunity to travel the world free of economic and social restraints, I would jump at the option. The countries I would visit would be highly influenced by my interests as well as the type of feeling or experience I desire to take away from the situation. I like the idea of purposely giving myself culture shock. I would like to travel to experience parts of countries cultures that I already have a love for as well as to introduce my self to new customs. Culture and history are factors that attract me to a country, which naturally makes Europe and parts of the Middle East very intriguing regions
for me. The following are the countries I would visit if given a week to live.
Thailand
Thailand has always been a country of interest to me. Though, it doesn't fall into the location of the regions of the world that largely interest me overall, it is the country which I desire to visit the most. My gravitation to this country lies in the appeal of the people, culture and environment. Thailand is a country which overall encompasses all of which I desire on a vacation. Firstly, the Thai people are widely known for both their kindness and hospitality. Being in a country where the interactions between the locals is not only pleasant but often culturally eye opening can be a great benefit. The Thai culture is also rich which adds to the positive factors of going to Thailand. Mouth-watering curries and famous pad Thai only scratch the surface of the flavourful food you will be exposed to in Thailand. Visiting historic Buddhist temples and practising yoga with skillful yogis is also a motivating factor for Thailand being my top travel choice. Lastly, the environmental beauty of Thailand is immense, in comparison to any other country in the world, in my opinion. Thailand offers beautiful varying landscapes and largely a tropical wet or dry climate. Water sports and lounging around the beach are perfect activities in Thailand. This, along with exploring Thailand's rainforest is a definite reason to visit this great country. Thailand is a guaranteed to offer something for everybody. Cultural, adventure and social tourism factors are largely the reasons I would like to visit Thailand, and would do so if I had only a week to live.
Thailand has beautiful landscapes to offer, this picture captures the vastness that this specific location has as well as the serenity it displays. Even as someone who has a slight phobia towards bodies of water (swimming), I find this situation very welcoming.
Italy
I desire to go to Italy due to the culture (cuisine!) of the country. Italy, has for a long time,
been given a reputation for having great food and highly esteemed chefs and culinary practises. I would love to travel to Italy in order to try authentic Italian food, that, both the people and tourists rave about.
France
Pakistan
As someone who's family originally comes from Pakistan, I would have to say I have strong ties to the country. I would like to travel to Pakistan in order to discover the beauty of the country from which I come from. I think often I overlook the positive aspects of Pakistan due to other critics I have of the country. I want to travel across the country and soak up the culture of rural villages and small cities, which often fall to the wayside when travelling there with my family. I think it would give me a greater appreciation of where I come from.
Tobago
When I think of paradise, I think of Tobago. After learning about this Caribbean Island, I would have to say I look forward to the day when I can visit it. What attracts me to Tobago as represented through this photo, is the seclusion of the beaches. Having a change from over crowded beaches to spend time with the people who you want to spend time with,
sounds very appealing.
Along with recreational tourism Tobago offers wonderful wildlife (specifically great marine life) life that is there to observe. As someone who loves animals, this is a wonderful opportunity. Snorkeling is something that I have always wanted to do and as seen in the following video, Tobago has wonderful snorkeling opportunities.
