Message from the principal

Fall is in full swing and our staff is working hard to support student academic and social emotional development. Parent conferences are right around the corner. Due to COVID-19 we will be holding parent conferences via zoom. Conferences are a great time to partner with your child's teacher to learn where your child is academically & socially and discuss plans the teacher has for your student's continued development. We are looking forward to seeing you at conferences...even though it is on zoom.

From the Nurse

Medications & Immunization Information

Medication orders must be renewed every school year. If your student needs medication at school, see the following information:

∙ Have your child’s physician complete and sign the Medication in School form (even for over-the-counter medications).

∙ Parent/guardian must also sign the medication form where indicated

∙ The clinic can fax the orders directly to the school at 360-313-2800.

∙ Bring in your child’s medications and orders (if not faxed).

∙ All medication must be in the original, properly labeled bottle

∙ All medications at school must have a completed form on file – even for those students that may self-carry their inhaler.

∙ The medication authorization form is available at the school office or you can download it from our website.

All students must be up-to-date on their immunizations before they can start their first day of school.

If you have questions, please ask the office or the school nurse.

Safety Information

Our first priority will always be the safety of our students at Salmon Creek. With that in mind I’d like to share some of the COVID-related guidelines that we’ll be following at school. You may access the district’s guidelines regarding mitigation and prevention of COVID by clicking the following link: VPS Mitigation and Prevention Plan. These documents are updated regularly and will adjust with any changes in policy or State guidance.

Masks or approved facial coverings:

Indoors: Masks will be worn inside by adults and students at all times except when eating or drinking.

Outdoor Activities: Masks are optional for adults and students during outside activities.

Temperature checks and daily attestations are no longer required.

Symptoms/Health Screenings--Students experiencing any COVID-related symptoms, as outlined by the Clark County Health Dept., will be escorted to the school’s health room and supervised until picked up from school by a family member or emergency contact.

Classrooms will be set-up to accommodate 3ft. of spacing between individuals as best as possible.

When eating the cafeteria, common spaces and classrooms will be set up to provide 6 ft. of spacing to the best of our ability.

Unfortunately, volunteers and visitors are not permitted in the school until further notice.

FCRC connects students and families to services and resources that address a broad range of needs. Families can access health and social services, food and housing information, academic and early learning programs, plus student and family engagement activities.

School Day Attendance

*Mondays: 8:30 am - 2:10 pm

Tuesdays-Fridays: 8:30 - 2:50 pm

*There is a 40 minute early release on Mondays (through May 16, 2022) to give teachers time to plan and collaborate.

8:00 am - Students may arrive for breakfast or to play supervised outside on the playground.

8:20 am - Teachers will open the outside doors for students to come in and get settled for the day.

8:30 am - Tardy bell rings. If your student arrives after 8:30am they will need to come into the office to check in. If students will be arriving late due to an appointment, please contact the office to excuse the absence.

9:15 am - Robo calls begin to let parents know when a student has been marked absent.

If your student will be absent for any reason, please email, call the attendance line 360-313-2803, or send a note with your student the next day.

There is no supervision prior to 8 am. Please do not drop off students early.

Salmon Creek PTA’s Mission is to:

  • be an advocate for all children
  • help foster an academic environment
  • support Salmon Creek faculty and parents to promote student growth
  • provide a voice for all children


Tomorrow is our annual Husky Run!

We are so excited to be back after missing out on this fundraiser last year. The Husky Run is our second biggest fundraiser of the year and provides essential funds for many on-going programs. The great thing about this fundraiser is that the kids get to run around outside (which they love!) and the school gets 100% of the profits! This event will take place rain or shine so please have your children dress accordingly or send a change of clothes to school with them.

Packets were sent home last week with all the information needed to successfully participate in this fundraiser. Our school goal this year is $10,000 which we are getting closer to every day. We still need your help to reach it, though. No donation is too small! Simply find your student at to donate or share their page.

The Book Fair is Back!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming, November 1-5. We will have previews for the students and teachers sometime the week before; sales will start on Monday, November 1

Taco Tuesday is Back!

We missed our regular staff appreciation meals during the last year. We're kicking it off this year with a taco bar lunch on Tuesday, October 12th to say thank you to the hardworking teachers and staff at our school. Please sign up, and bring items to the school office no later than 10:00am on the 12th. Thank you for helping us show our teachers and staff how much we appreciate them.
