Java at the Johnson
February 4, 2016
Co-Sponsored by the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University and Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga BOCES.
An informal discussion series linking art, literature, and history. February 4, 2016.
Who can resist chocolate, especially during February? Hershey’s kisses are a small part of the story of this exotic, sensual, and controversial commodity.
Join us as we travel through the world of chocolate using a chapter from Wolfgang Schnivelbusch’s Tastes of Paradise : A Social History of Spices, Stimulants and Intoxicants and a Costan Rican chocolate pot as our primary guides.
Participants must read the selection from Schnivelbusch in advance and post a question for discussion in the team room by Tuesday, February 2. The reading and the team room will be provided on line once participants register through BOCES at __________________________.
Parking and coffee will be free and the conversation will be priceless!
