Lady Trojans Leave for State Basketball Tournament

We had a send-off today for our Lady Trojans! Students and teachers made a path for the team and cheered as they walked to their bus. They are excited and ready to play in the state semi-finals tomorrow, and we are excited to cheer them on! Let's go, Lady Trojans!!

We want to have the BEST student section at the BJCC tomorrow as we support our Lady Trojans! Wear black, follow the rules above, and let's have the BJCC rocking!

State Basketball Information

Students who attend Wednesday's State Semi-Finals will get a full day excused absence if they check in at the game with their grade level's designee. To be excused, drivers and car riders MUST check in with this person. Grade level designees will be announced during lunch Monday and Tuesday. We will not take any pep buses to this game. The student section theme is BLACK OUT!

If the Lady Trojans win, they will play for the State Championship next Saturday, February 29, at 12:30 p.m. against McAdory or Northridge. Let's go, Lady Trojans!

Interested in HGHS's Schola Literati Society?

Any HGHS student interested in learning more about the Schola Literati Society, our new literary organization here at The Green, should attend a Literary Colleagues Reception on Tuesday, March 3rd, right after school in the library. Come hear fellow students explain the benefits of the society, participate in lively literary discussions, enjoy delicious food, schmooze with some of our coolest faculty, and find out just what this mysterious and rarefied organization is all about.

Current Announcements

Public Hearing Notice for Indian Education Program: The Madison County Schools Title VI Indian Education Program will have a public hearing on March 10, 2020, at the Teacher Resource Center. The TRC is located at 146 A Shields Rd. Huntsville, AL, 35811. The hearing will take place at 8:30 a.m. in Room B.

Lil' Trojan Night: Calling all Lil' Trojans! Hazel Green Softball is having a Lil' Trojan Night next week on Tuesday, February 25. The Lady Trojans take on Scottsboro at 4:30. Lil' Trojans are asked to arrive by 4:15. They will get free admission, a hot dog, and water and will stand with the Lady Trojans during the National Anthem and run the bases after the varsity game.

Flu: Please use this guide to help us fight the flu.

Parents, if your child gets the flu, please call the school and tell the school nurse. She needs an accurate record of the number of flu cases we have each year.

Summer Driver's Ed Classes at HGHS: Spots are limited for the 2020 Summer Driver's Education Program hosted at HGHS. Registration is conducted through MySchoolFees. Classes are open to students who attend Madison County Schools, as well as out-of-district students. Please click on the link below for more information.

Diversity Day Field Trip: Juniors and seniors with financial need are invited to go on a Diversity Day Field Trip on March 6th. Attendees will receive information on financial aid for college, career development, and leadership. If interested, the sign-up sheet is located in the Guidance Office.

Summer Driver's Ed Classes at HGHS

Prom Tickets: The last day to purchase a prom ticket for $75 is March 13.

Beginning March 14, prom tickets will cost $100.

The deadline to purchase a prom ticket is April 7.

No prom tickets will be sold after April 7.

Trojan Trail Closed: The Trojan Trail will be closed on Saturday, March 14, 2020, for the Green Power Race.

Cheerleading Tryouts: Football and Competition Cheerleading tryouts are March 23-26. There will be a mandatory pre-tryout meeting on March 16. Please see the flyer for more information. Go Trojans!

ASVAB: If you are a junior or senior and want to take the ASVAB on March 18th, sign up here.


Cap & Gown Orders: Seniors, if you have not ordered your cap and gown, go to Ms. J's office March 4th during the morning to place your order with Balfour. If you haven't paid, you'll be able to do that as well that morning.

Balfour will also be in the cafeteria on March 5th during lunch to accept the $100 payments for cap and gown.

Attention Senior Parents: It is time to start planning our senior breakfast to honor our graduating class of 2020. We are still in the planning stages for our senior class activities, but Mrs. Brady needs volunteers to start working on plans for our annual senior breakfast. It generally takes place the morning of our senior awards program, which will be on May 12th. Please email if you are interested in assisting with organizing this honored tradition.

Senior Follies:

  • Wanting to help with Follies? Are you more suited for technical jobs or backstage work? We STILL NEED YOU. Positions open for stagehands, stage manager, sign makers, mic masters, and program designers. Please see Mrs. Brady to sign up.
  • Please join the Senior Class as they present their 2020 Rewind HGHS Senior Follies on Thursday, March 26, at 7:00 in the Wright Gym. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.

MySchoolFees: You can pay class fees and other school fees online by following these instructions for MySchoolFees.

Online Application for Free/Reduced Meals: Online free and reduced meal applications are available at the link below for a faster, more confidential way to apply. A new application must be completed each school year to qualify for free or reduced meals. Your child's eligibility status carries over to the new school year for the first 30 school days, allowing parents time to re-apply. Only one application per household should be submitted, and everyone living in the house must be included on the application.
