Golden Hills Vision
Golden Hills Vision:
Golden Eagles grow together, learn with passion, act with kindness, and change the world!
Letter from the Principal
Golden Hills Families,
Thank you for all your support in our 911 Acts of Kindness Challenge! The students love seeing their name on the cafeteria walls! This month we are having a “Chalk it Up to Kindness” event on October 15th, for 20 Team tickets students can join us for an outside art, music and treat event!
Positive EAGLE Awards: Each Friday staff choose a student to receive a positive EAGLE award. Students receive an award, a phone call and picture will be emailed to their families. We also have monthly Reward Plus Recesses where students who have been following the TEAM expectations get a bonus recess. We love to recognize students who are following our TEAM expectations!
Red Ribbon Week is October 23-October 31st. This year's theme is Drug Free Looks Like Me™. Created by Marin Wurst, a 7th grader at Solon Middle School in Solon, Ohio, the Theme is a reminder that everyday Americans across the country make significant daily contributions to their communities by being the best they can be because they live Drug-Free! Activities for this will be announced soon!
Math Focus for October:
Fourth Grade: Multiplication with double digit numbers
Fifth Grade: Fluently multiply multi-digit whole numbers
Did you know that I-Ready and Reflex both practice multiplication facts? Both of these programs can be accessed on technology at home. It is so important that our students know their math facts. Students can use flash cards to practice, the Dollar Store has math flash cards. When you are driving in the car, quiz your student on multiplication facts.
Thank you for your support, please reach out if we can support you or your student in any way,
Mrs. Napoli

Counselor Zones of Regulation
Counselor
Zones of Regulation
We use the Zones of Regulation to teach self-regulation. Students learn how to recognize when they are in different zones as well as how to use strategies to change or stay in the zone they are in. In addition to self-regulation, students learn how to define their feelings, skills in reading how other people are feeling, perspective taking, identifying triggers, and problem solving.
How can you use this at home:
Use the language and talk about the concepts. For example: “ This is frustrating me and making me go into the Yellow Zone. I’m going to take some deep breaths to calm down and get me back to the green.”
Share how your child’s behavior affects the zone you are in and how you feel.
Have your child identify how they are feeling and what zone they are in.
Help your child brainstorm ways they can get back to the green.
Identify your child's triggers
It is important to note that everyone experiences all of the zones. There is no such thing as a “bad” or “naughty” zone. Feelings are normal. We all have them. While they are normal we all need strategies to self-regulate and get ourselves feeling better so that we can be productive and get along with others.
Multi-Tiered System of Support
At Golden Hills we use a multi-tiered system of support. A multi-tiered system of support has three main focuses; academic, behavior, and social emotional. We provide teaching for all students in each one of these areas. When students don't respond to the whole school teaching we provide intervention. One of these areas is social emotional learning. We provide social emotional support for all of our students through the whole school curriculum. Social emotional learning is the knowledge, skills and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions, and achieve goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain healthy relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. At Golden Hills we use 7 Mindsets and the Zones of Regulation to teach these skills.
Walker Wednesday
Every Wednesday we walk our playground before school and end with a school wide dance! September’s Dance is the Cha-Cha Slide. In October we will be learning Thriller!

Golden Hills School Hours
Monday through Thursday
8:35am to 2:45pm
Fridays – 8:35am to 1:45pm
Please do not drop off your student before 7:50am.
Please do not ask your student to meet or wait for you at an undesignated pick-up area. This causes traffic congestion and confusion at dismissal time.
Please pull forward when you are in line waiting to pick up your student and no u turns please. This allows traffic to move more quickly.
We appreciate your support in helping us to maintain a safe and secure campus for all of our students.
