How students will enter/exit the building

Cleaning process
Please note that Gresham High will send out the following information next week:
4/19 & 4/22- class schedules for those who will be attending in person.
Cohort information will be shared this coming week as well. Remember “odd” address will begin the week- AA group (Mon/Tue) & BB group (Thur/Fri)
LAST DAY OF QUAD 3
Believe it or not, we are less then 1 week away from the end of Quad 3. This is an important time for students to be attending consistently and completing current and incomplete assignments. ParentVue and Google Classroom are useful tools when helping your student set priorities to earn goal grades.
Teachers and staff are communicating with many students and families who are at risk of F grades. We want to help students create a path to success! Students should connect with teachers when making-up work to focus on the most impactful assignments, quizzes or tests. A few hours of work now, can pay off for years to come.
Grades for Quad 3 will post on Tuesday, April 20th. If you need help accessing your account please contact the front office at 503-674-5500.
"KNOW YOUR SCHOOL" PARENT/PRINCIPAL MEETINGS
Principal Drake Shelton hosts KNOW YOUR SCHOOL parent Meeting. These parent meetings are intended to help answer questions and concerns from our community. Meetings occur monthly.
Date: Wednesday, April 14th, 2021
Time: 6:30 - 7:30 pm
These meetings will take place virtually due to our current circumstances. The link and agenda for the meeting will be sent out to parents emails prior to the meeting. It will also be posted on our website and a link will be sent out through our new communication tool REMIND.
COHORT NOTIFICATION
Students and Parents are able to see their cohort assignment in ParentVue/StudentVue accounts. GHS will be sending out an automated call on Monday, April 12th with student’s cohort assignments.
As a reminder: cohorts are determined by the student’s home address as listed in Synergy. Odd Addresses are cohort AA, Even Addresses are cohort BB. If the student is continuing on in distance learning then they are identified as eGBSD. Students who have an assigned 8th period class or “0” period will be in either AAHS1 or BBHS1. These 2 identify which students will have access to an earlier bus for transportation to the school in time for their 8th period class. This is still determined by address also.
TEXTBOOK & SUPPLY PACK RETURN & DISTRIBUTION
QUAD 4 distribution days will be April 14th, 15th & 16th. It is very important for students attending Hybrid in-person lessons to come to one of the distribution days to receive their student ID badge that will be needed for checking into the building when school starts. We will also be handing out supply packs, chromebook bags, face masks, etc. Students will also be able to return textbooks/library materials and check out their Quad 4 textbooks if needed.
April 14th 12:00 noon - 6:30 pm,
April 15th 12:00 noon - 6:30 pm
April 16th 9:00 am - 12:00 noon, 1:00 - 4:00 pm
BUS ROUTE INFORMATION
First Student Transportation is working on bus routes for those students who are planning on attending hybrid in-person classes. Route information including pickup times will be released by Thursday, April 15th. It will be viewable through the ParentVue/StudentVue portals. Information displayed before April 15th may not be accurate at this time.
STUDENT DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP for HYBRID
Parents who drop off and / or pick up their student will enter the division parking lot and drop off / pickup following the signage. Our student entrance is our main entrance and students will exit out of the south exit of our cafeteria.
STUDENT PARKING INFORMATION
Students driving to school will park in the Burnside parking lot. Parking is limited so please plan accordingly. Parking passes will not be required for the remainder of this school year. The student entrance will be the Auxiliary Gym Lobby entrance also known as the fishbowl. The new Division lot is for staff parking and visitor parking only. Students who park in the division lot may be towed. Students will not need to pay for parking this year.
INCOMPLETE AND CREDIT RECOVERY INFORMATION
We are currently offering two ways for students two ways to recover credits.
Incomplete Recovery: If your student received an Incomplete (I) on their report card from Spring of 2020 and has not/does not earn a Passing Grade (P) this year, their “I” will turn into an F at the end of summer. If your student receives an F, they will be required to take the entire class again. Your student can earn a P and receive credit by completing the course work that they missed in the Spring 2020. During Quad 4, students that have outstanding I’s will be assigned a case manager to work with your student to complete these courses. The teachers will be reaching out to your student and/or you, please respond to them.
Credit Recovery: If your student received an F before Spring of 2020 or a NG this year, they will need to take credit recovery to earn a grade and credit. Please use this link to fill out the credit recovery request form. https://forms.gle/FGV1u7roGRReWCbb6 Your student will then be assigned a caseworker to support them in the courses they need to complete.
All students that need incomplete recovery and/or credit recovery(once they sign up) will be assigned to a teacher during 8th period for Quad 4. It will be listed as Independent Study with a teachers name and room number. If your student has chosen hybrid, they will need to come to school and attend that teacher’s class. If your student is staying in eGBSD or it's their off day of hybrid, they will be expected to log onto the teacher’s Google Classroom just as they would any other class. Every student that needs and wants to earn credit will be accommodated. On the days your student will be in the building for hybrid, they will be able to take the early bus to the building to attend class. If you have any questions about Incomplete or Credit Recovery, please contact your student’s counselor.
JOSTEN'S SENIOR GRADUATION DELIVERY
Seniors: The time has come to pick up your senior graduation orders, including your
cap & gown. Jostens will be having a Delivery event on Tues. April 13, from 4-6pm in the gym.
Be sure to pick up your order. All orders need to be paid in full.
Students will park in the Division parking lot and enter the front door. They will go down to the New Gym and pick their items up. They will then exit through the cafeteria exit. Attention

COVID-19 Testing Information
Students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms while at school will have access to a COVID-19 test.
Following are some important details to know about the COVID-19 test:
The test is VOLUNTARY. Students must have a “COVID-19 Testing Consent Form” on-file before a test can be administered to a student. The form must be fully completed and signed by a parent or guardian.
Testing is intended for students who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
COVID-19 symptoms include fever of 100.4° F or higher, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing and new loss of taste or loss of smell.
Students are required to administer their own test by swabbing their own nose. A testing administrator will oversee the process and provide verbal instructions to the student.
Testing will be conducted in the school’s Care Room or a private space.
Students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms on-site and are tested (whether positive or negative result) will be sent home. Further instructions will be provided at that time.
Students who develop COVID-19 symptoms while not at school may not get tested at the school. Testing is only available for students who are already on-site and are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
Please use this information to decide what is best for your student. If you have more questions, contact the main office at 503-674-5500.

GBSD Online Expectations for Students and Families
GBSD Online Expectations for Students and Families
Students
Always be respectful and courteous to other students and teachers during online class meetings/lessons. Inappropriate language, hate speech or symbols, offensive or threatening comments; misrepresentation of identity, and/or disruptive behavior by any participants during online class meetings/lessons will not be tolerated.
Students must use their GBSD email account to log into online class meetings/lessons.
Login credentials must not be shared. Sharing of login information violates other students’ and teachers’ rights to confidentiality, and could allow class participation by unauthorized persons and/or lead to disruptive behaviors that detract from a productive and positive learning environment.
Students who are disruptive in online class meetings/lessons will receive appropriate consequences in accordance with the Parent/Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook and as outlined in the Restorative Practices statement below.
Consequences may result in temporary or permanent loss of technology access, which could prevent the student from participating in online class meetings/lessons. Students receiving this consequence would have assignments provided to the student’s parent/guardian.
Students will adhere to the provisions identified under the Gresham Barlow School District Policy IIBGA
Parents and Families
To maintain a positive, productive learning environment and assure confidentiality for students and teachers during distance learning, all parents/guardians are asked to follow the following privacy guidelines.
Online class meetings/lessons are designed for students. To prevent disruptions to the learning environment, parents/guardians should not actively participate in online class meetings/lessons, although parents/guardians may assist their child with technology and/or remain nearby.
Help the student choose a setting in the house that minimizes distractions to the child as well as to others participating in the online meetings/lessons. This includes family members that may be appearing in the background or can be heard.
Do not video record, audio record, photograph, live stream, or transmit in any other way any part of an online class meeting/lessons, including not posting on any social media platform.
Any confidential or personally identifiable information related to students participating during online class meetings/lessons should not be collected, discussed or shared.
Parents/guardians should not engage with students during online class meetings/lessons. If parents need to speak with their child during an online class meeting/lessons, first mute the child’s microphone.
For devices that have been checked out from the school district, the device is to be used for Gresham-Barlow School learning class work only. Parent/guardian(s), are responsible for monitoring student’s activities on the district device.
If a parent/guardian has a question, please email the child’s teacher.
All Students Belong
The Oregon Department of Education recognizes that student health and safety are at the cornerstone of education and that all students are entitled to a high-quality educational experience, free from discrimination or harassment based on perceived race, color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin, and without fear or hatred, racism or violence. All staff and leaders are also entitled to work in environments that are free from discrimination or harassment, and visitors should be able to participate in school activities without fear for their safety. Please refer to this link for further information from the Oregon Department of Education.
Restorative Practices Progression
If a student is repeatedly disrupting an online class meeting/lesson, teachers will remind the students of the behavioral expectation.
If the disruption continues or escalates, the teacher will restate the expectation and remind the student that they may be muted or excluded from the remainder of that online class meeting/lesson.
If the student is muted or excluded from an online class meeting/lesson, the teacher will follow up with the student and have a restorative conversation. A restorative conversation focuses on:
Talking about the behavior or incident without blaming.
Using relational questions to bring out who was affected and how
Discuss what needs to happen to make things right.
If the disruption is discriminatory, threatening, or harassing, the student will be removed from the online class meeting/lesson immediately. The teacher will follow up with a restorative conversation and other consequences as warranted.
Anytime a student is removed from an online class meeting/lesson it will be documented with a major or minor behavior referral.
Anytime a student is removed from an online class meeting/lesson, the parent will be notified.
Restorative Inquiry
Basic practice that frames how we hold ourselves and each other accountable. Building the community’s understanding and use of language such as - relationship, accountability, harm, impact, and repair. Using language that doesn’t blame; speaking in terms of harm done rather than rules broken. Utilizing active empathic, and compassionate questioning instead of assuming/accusing.
SCHOOL OFFICE HOURS
The office hours will be from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. If you have questions please call our main number (503-674-5500). Currently our buiilding is closed to the public. If you need to access a staff member in person please call the school first to get directions on how this can occur.
