What You Need to Know

Summer Reading 2023

YOU WILL BE READING TWO BOOKS:

  1. One Novel-in-verse
  2. One award-winning or nominated book

This year's summer reading will leave students with a lot of choice! There are plenty of lists that can provide information to help you select books that will meet your interests and needs for reading. You will find those lists below!


Don't be afraid to explore different genres and formats for summer reading! Audiobooks count as summer reading!


When we return in the fall, you will be participating in a variety of activities connected to your summer reading. Read your two books!

How Do I Get The Books?

Due to the choice involved with Summer Reading this year, you are responsible for getting your own books. You can purchase them from a bookstore of your choosing—shopping local (like the Hickory Stick) is always wonderful!

Your second book is an award-winning or nominated book. Below are some websites that have lists of award winners and nominees. You are not limited to the following lists. You can always use Google to help you discover if a specific book has been nominated or won an award.
