EHS National Merit Scholarship Finalist
Elizabeth High School senior Brandon Marshall has now advanced as a National Merit Scholarship finalist. Marshall is on the EHS soccer team, track team, in Future Business Leaders of America, and plans to study mathematics, finance, or engineering in college.
Marshall became a semi-finalist after completing the Fall 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). The nationwide Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of all U.S. high school seniors, included the highest-scoring entrants from each state. Of those 16,000 Semifinalists, around 15,000 have now become Finalists. Approximately half of the Finalists will eventually be chosen as Merit Scholarship winners. According to the National Merit Scholarship Program, “scholarship recipients are the candidates judged to have the greatest potential for success in rigorous college studies and beyond.”
RCE Goods & Services Expo
The third grade classes at Running Creek Elementary have been learning about economics and how to start their own business. Once a product or service for their business was decided, the students presented to a panel (similar to Shark Tank's style), interviewed, and received helpful suggestions. Earlier this week, students set up a Goods & Services Expo in the gym to sell their products and provide services, including slime, bath bombs, Orbeez, candles, back scratchers, and lip balm, as well as face painting, finger nail painting, hand designs, and hand massages. All the money raised went to Children’s Hospital, the Denver Dumb Friends League Society, and the Equine Center.
Make a Difference on 2/28
In 2014, Hunter Neelley lost his battle with cancer. Hunter lived his legacy with love, kindness, and service to others...and challenged us to do the same. Hunter's Legacy thus began. Join us at 6pm on February 28th in the EHS gym for the Hunter's Legacy Basketball Tournament to raise funds for Shelby Martyniak, who is still bravely battling cancer.
