Newsletter Week 8 Term 4

Titahi Bay Intermediate School Tuesday 7th December 2021

Principal's Korero

Here we are counting down our days until the end of the term and year. The last few weeks have been extremely busy with our students finally being able to show us their talents in our school production of Gnomes and Gardens. This has been a long time coming with Covid interrupting many of our schoolwide performances.

Congratulations to our cast, stage, sound and lighting team for a fantastic effort. The photos show a job well done.

Our teachers are making finishing touches to our students end of year reports. These will be posted out on the last day so it is important that if you have changed your address then please let the office know a.s.a.p.

This week our students are busy working on their Market Night products, ready to sell to our community. The theme is 'gifts' so come along and get your shopping done for Christmas. This will run from 5.30 p.m. tomorrow Wednesday 8th December 2021. With Covid restrictions each stall will be held under the verandah's of each class so that you will need to walk around all classrooms to purchase your goods.

Please ensure that you sign/scan in and masks must be worn during your time on school grounds.

Staffing for 2022

At the end of the year we will be saying farewell to a few teachers and support staff as they start new adventures in their life journey.

Our teacher aides Marcus Hewitt and Melvina Martin have been with us supporting our students with their learning in various classrooms, we would like to thank them for their commitment and hard work.

Margaret Tolland has been working in the Art room creating some excellent pieces over the past few years. She is leaving us at the end of the year to focus on her art contracts that she has secured. She will be popping back in now and then to work on some little projects. Thank you Margaret for your creative work that you have done with our students.

Diana Puati has secured a teaching position at Paraparaumu School working with Years 5 and 6. We would like to thank her for the work she has done over the past two years and wish her all the very best.

Taliaina Itamura will be leaving us after 14 years of service to Titahi Bay Intermediate and our community. She is having a break from teaching to be a mum. We would like to thank her for her many years of support, guidance and leadership and being part of the team which has been pivotal in making Titahi Bay Intermediate the school that it is today. All the very best on your next journey in life.

Market Night Covid 19 Procedures

Market Night tomorrow.

Please scan/sign in using the QR Code or clipboard provided as you enter the school. Please ensure that you wear a face covering as you move around the school.

Our Market stalls will be located outside each classroom and library so ensure that if the weather is wet bring along a jacket and/or umbrella.

In order to purchase goods from the stall you will need to come to the office and purchase our TBI Market Night Money Voucher. We will be selling them in denominations of $20.00, $10.00 and $5.00. As you purchase goods, the students will cross off the amount that you have purchased.

We accept cash and eftpos will be available for you to purchase your vouchers. These will be available from 5.20 p.m. at the office using our in one door and out another door system.

Classroom Shared Lunches

All classes had planned to hold a shared lunch this Friday but with the Covid restrictions we have had to change the way that this is carried out as we are unable to have food from various sources bought into the school.

Most classes will be having a sausage and bread (cooked in our foods room) and teachers will be providing a few extras. If your child needs a bit more to eat then please send their lunch along.

Thursday will be our last day for Kapura lunches in schools as Friday is shared lunch. On Monday we have the Year 8 celebration and school finishes on Tuesday at 1.30 p.m.

Trophy Night

We are hoping to hold our end of year Trophy Night outside on the stage on Thursday starting at the earlier time of 5.30 p.m. Again please sign/scan in, wear a face covering and keep a safe distance from others.

Unfortunately if it is wet, we will have to hold it in the hall with restrictions on the number of people allowed inside. We ask that each recipient of an award can come in with only 1 accompanying adult/person. If numbers allow we may be able to have some people in the hall foyer to observe our awards evening.

We would like to thank you all in advance for being patient and understanding of us trying to work around the Covid restrictions. Our students and community have missed quite a bit of the extra curricula events during the past year and a half due to Covid.

Chocolate Raffle - final tickets

We will have our chocolate raffle on sale over both nights of Market Night and Trophy Night. We will draw these two raffles at the end of Trophy Night.

Thank you in advance for your support with this.
